Trotwood Demolishes Xenia

Every calendar year, there is one activity which I very much look forward too. That activity is the annual release of Ohio’s High School Football Schedules. Most of my time covering games is spent at Beavercreek High School. Therefore, my first duty is to see which teams Beavercreek will be playing at HOME. I like to attend Home Games for Cedarville High School; Greeneview High School; and Xenia High School too. Once my inspection of Beavercreek’s Schedule is complete, I move on to the previously-mentioned schools. Coming into the year of 2017, there were two schools which I hoped would be on my list of teams to cover. One of the schools I knew that I would be covering tonight (Friday, October 20, 2017). The other school is one which I knew would be on Beavercreek’s Home Schedule. The two schools which I am speaking of are both Trotwood-Madison High School (TMHS) and Wayne High School (WHS). Not only are Trotwood and Wayne two of the best teams in the Dayton, Ohio area, but both teams are two of the best which Ohio has to offer. Besides just wanting to see both teams play, another significant reason exists too. L’Christian “Blue” Smith (Wayne) and Raveion Hargrove (Trotwood) are two athletes which I have always wanted to cover before each individual’s High School Career ended. Due to the fact that both athletes are Seniors, 2017 was either now or never. Recently, I got to cover Blue Smith (and Wayne) in Beavercreek. Tonight, I get to cover Raveion Hargrove.

Currently, I am sitting inside of Xenia, Ohio’s Doug Adams Stadium (DAS). Tonight, Xenia High School (XHS) will be hosting the Trotwood-Madison High School (TMHS) Rams. The Buccaneers’ task tonight will be an extremely difficult task. Defeating the Rams WILL NOT be easy! Coming into this Week #9 Contest, Trotwood possesses an Overall Season Record of 8-0. Heading into next week’s Highly-Anticipated Match-Up with Wayne, Trotwood wants to still be undefeated. Of course, the Rams’ focus needs to be on tonight’s game. Trotwood cannot make the mistake of overlooking Xenia. If Trotwood is unable to keep its focus solely on Xenia, the Buccaneers might be able to exit DAS with a victory in tow. Xenia will be the first team on Offense. The Buccaneers’ Offense started on its own 27-Yard Line. After Sincere Wells proceeded to rush the ball four times, the ball was positioned on the 39-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 9, Quarterback Christian Severt rushed the ball to Trotwood’s 38-Yard Line (23-Yards – 9:19). On 3rd Down and 5, the ball was on the Rams’ 33-Yard Line. Severt kept the ball himself. However, he managed to move the ball only 3-Yards. On 4th Down and 2 at 7:54, Xenia rushed the ball again. The First Down was not picked up. As a result, the ball was turned over on downs (7:54).

Trotwood’s Offense got started on its own 30-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Raveion Hargrove rushed the ball 13-Yards (7:47). The First Down Pick Up placed the ball on the Rams’ 43-Yard Line. After Markell Stephens-Peppers went on to complete a 6-Yard Pass, it was now 2nd Down and 4 from Trotwood’s 49-Yard Line. Once again, the ball was handed to Hargrove. This time, Hargrove was tackled on Xenia’s 43-Yard Line (7:09). On 1st Down and 10, Hargrove took the handoff. This time, he picked up more than 8-Yards. Instead, Hargrove obtained 25-Yards. He was brought down on the 18-Yard Line (7:00). With 6:47 on the clock, Stephens-Peppers completed an 18-Yard Touchdown Pass to Dallas Daniels. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood leads Xenia 7-0. The only big play of Xenia’s next Offensive Drive took place at the 5:47 mark. Jonny Shampton, Jr. made a 15-Yard Run. On 4th Down and 8, the ball was on the Buccaneers’ own 40-Yard Line. Xenia was forced to Punt (4:01).

With 3:07 remaining in the 1st Quarter, Trotwood had 2nd Down and 7 on its own 32-Yard Line. Stephens-Peppers completed a deep 43-Yard Pass to Daniels. On Xenia’s 25-Yard Line, Daniels was tackled. On 2nd Down and 10, the ball still rested on the 25-Yard Line. Once again, Stephens-Peppers connected with Daniels. The 12-Yard Completion got the ball to the 13-Yard Line (2:34). At 2:21, Hargrove took the ball to the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood-Madison’s lead now stands at 14-0. At the 2:17 mark, Xenia started its next Offensive Drive. The ball was on the team’s own 21-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Severt completed a Screen Pass to Meechi Harris. One of Trotwood’s Defenders missed a tackle. That was a major mistake! As a direct result, Harris blasted his way down the field. The 79-Yard Play ended with a Touchdown (2:07). After the successful completion of the Extra Point Kick, Xenia trails Trotwood 14-7.

Trotwood’s Offensive Drive started on Xenia’s 45-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Stephens-Peppers completed a 21-Yard Pass to Isaiah Winchester (1:56). That play moved the ball to the Buccaneers’ 24-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Stephens-Peppers kept the ball himself. He went on to pick up 11-Yards (1:11). With 24.8 Seconds left in the 1st Quarter, the ball was on the 11-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 8, William McDaniel rushed the ball into the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was No Good. Regardless, Trotwood possesses a 20-7 Lead. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Trotwood leads Xenia 20-7. On 2nd Down and 10 from Xenia’s own 42-Yard Line, Corey Burnette, Jr. rushed the ball. Unfortunately, he suffered a loss of 11-Yards (11:52). On 3rd Down and 21 from the 31-Yard Line, Shampton, Jr. kept the ball. He lost 1-Yard (11:11). On 4th Down and 22 from its own 30-Yard Line, Xenia had no choice but to Punt. The Punt was bad. It was very short. The ball was downed on Xenia’s 37-Yard Line (10:28).

Before the Rams could perform a play, the team committed a Delay Of Game Violation. The ball was backed up to the 42-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 15, Stephens-Peppers ran the football. To his own dismay, he ended up fumbling. Xenia’s Nick Willis recovered the loose ball (10:17). The Buccaneers did not keep the ball long. On 2nd Down and 10 from Xenia’s own 42-Yard Line, a rush took place. During the play, the ball was fumbled. Trotwood’s Javen Medley recovered the fumble (10:10). The ball was downed on Xenia’s 44-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Stephens-Peppers completed a Deep Pass to Daniels. The 39-Yard Completion placed the ball on the 5-Yard Line (10:00). On 1st and Goal, Hargrove moved the ball into the end zone (9:39). Stephens-Peppers’ 2-Point Conversion Pass was Incomplete. Trotwood leads Xenia 26-7.

Xenia’s next Offensive Drive started on its own 18-Yard Line. The Buccaneers went three plays and out. On 4th Down and 7 from the 21-Yard Line, XHS was forced to Punt (8:02). After a Personal Foul Penalty and an Illegal Block Violation were both committed by Xenia, Trotwood’s Offense started on Xenia’s 23-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 9, the ball was on the 22-Yard Line. After the snap, Stephens-Peppers was sacked (7:19). The ball was turned over on downs. At 6:39, the ball was on Xenia’s 26-Yard Line. Severt rushed the ball to 38-Yard Line. From that point, the Buccaneers’ Offense started struggling. A Holding Penalty was a major hindrance. It negated a First Down Pick Up on 4th Down. On 4th Down and 7, the ball was on Xenia’s 41-Yard Line. Xenia had to Punt (3:28). With 2:44 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Trotwood had to face a 3rd Down and 4 Play. The ball was on the Rams’ own 37-Yard Line. Stephens-Peppers completed a 14-Yard Pass to Daniels. Daniels was tackled on Xenia’s 49-Yard Line.

On 1st Down and 10, Hargrove was handed the ball. When he stopped running, Hargrove was standing in the end zone (2:33). Stephens-Peppers completed a 2-Point Conversion Pass to Jalen Watson. Trotwood leads Xenia 34-7. At the end of the 2nd Quarter, Trotwood possesses a commanding 34-7 Lead. After the Halftime Break, Trotwood started on Offense. The ball was on the Rams’ own 35-Yard Line. At 11:51, Stephens-Peppers threw an Incomplete Pass. A Flag was thrown. Xenia’s Defense was penalized for Roughing The Passer. The penalty moved the ball to Midfield (50-Yard Line). On 1st Down and 10, Stephens-Peppers completed a 10-Yard Pass. That First Down Play placed the ball on Xenia’s 40-Yard Line (11:46). Stephens-Peppers went on to throw another Incomplete Pass. After another penalty was assessed to the Buccaneers’ Defense, the ball was placed on the 25-Yard Line. At the 11:18 mark, the ball was on the 30-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 15, Stephens-Peppers ran the ball to the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood’s lead increased to 41-7.

Once Xenia’s Offense received the ball again, it did not possess it long. The Buccaneers started on its own 20-Yard Line. At 10:03, a rush took place. The ball ended up being fumbled. One of the Rams’ Defensive Players recovered the fumble. That player almost reached the end zone. He was tackled on Xenia’s 3-Yard Line. On 1st and Goal, Kennedy Coates took the ball into the end zone (9:59). The Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 48-7, Trotwood leads Xenia. After the ensuing Kickoff, the ball was downed on Xenia’s 42-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 8, the ball was on the 44-Yard Line. Severt went on to be sacked (7:35). With the clock reading 6:50, it was now 4th Down and 13 from the 39-Yard Line. Xenia decided not to Punt. Instead, Severt completed a 24-Yard Pass to Devin Hall. Severt soon suffered another Sack. On 3rd Down and 7, the ball was on the Rams’ 33-Yard Line. After the snap, Sincere Wells rushed the ball to the 26-Yard Line. In order for Xenia to obtain a First Down, Wells picked up the 7-Yards which were needed. On 1st Down and 10, Burnette, Jr. picked up the 26-Yard Touchdown (3:37). The Extra Point Kick was Good. Xenia trails Trotwood 48-14.

With 1:23 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, Trotwood was on its own 30-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 3, Stephens-Peppers completed a pass to McDaniel. The 21-Yard Completion placed the ball on Xenia’s 49-Yard Line. At the 42.6 Seconds mark, Stephens-Peppers kept the ball himself. When he was finally tackled, Stephens-Peppers was on Xenia’s 5-Yard Line (44-Yard Rush). At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Trotwood leads Xenia 48-14. Shortly after the beginning of the 4th Quarter, Trotwood faced 2nd Down and Goal. The ball was on the 1-Yard Line. Hargrove took the ball into the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood leads Xenia 55-14. On 1st Down and 5, Xenia was on its own 30-Yard Line. At 9:43, a rushing play occurred. During the play, the ball was fumbled. Luckily, Xenia recovered the ball. The ball was recovered on the 43-Yard Line. The Buccaneers’ Offense had picked up a First Down.

On 1st Down and 10, another fumble took place. Trotwood’s Jalen Watson recovered the fumble. Then, Watson proceeds to take the ball to the end zone (8:54). The Extra Point Kick was No Good. Trotwood leads Xenia 61-14. After the ensuing Kickoff, Xenia’s Burnette, Jr. fielded the ball on his team’s 10-Yard Line. Then, he proceeded to take the ball 90-Yards to the end zone (8:41). The Extra Point Kick was Good. Xenia trails Trotwood 61-21. With 6:53 remaining in the game, Trotwood had 1st Down and 5 on its own 30-Yard Line. After the snap, Keonte Huguely threw a Deep Pass. I thought that the ball was intercepted. I was wrong! Instead, Dallas Daniels made the reception. He ended up scoring a 70-Yard Touchdown. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood leads Xenia 68-21. By the Final Score of 68-21, Trotwood-Madison High School would go on to defeat Xenia High School. Trotwood came to Xenia, and the team did exactly what I thought it would do. Now, it is on to the BIG-GAME! Next Friday night, Trotwood will host Wayne High School. For a Week #10 Contest, it gets no better than Wayne vs. Trotwood. For the entire Dayton, Ohio area, the Regular Season will end on a CLASSIC NOTE. It is one game which I encourage every Ohio High School Football Fan to not miss. Get to Trotwood, Ohio, and get there early. Without any shadow of a doubt, the game will be a SELLOUT.
