Central State University Continues To Giveaway Games

After 3-Home Games, it all ends today (Saturday, October 21, 2017). In just mere minutes, Central State University (CSU) will be playing its Final Home Football Game of the 2017 Season. Today’s opponent is Fort Valley State University (FVSU). This game is Senior Day. At the conclusion of the game, many of the young men have played their Final Organized Home Football Game. Others will have the opportunity to play Professional Football. The National Football League (NFL); Canadian Football League (CFL); and Arena Football League (AFL) are just some of the Professional Football Leagues which exist (in the United States). Going overseas is another option. Semi-Pro Football is always an option too. Going out into the non-sports workforce is what most of the young men will end up doing. No matter where life takes each of the Seniors, one issue is quite certain. While spending time at CSU, each individual has made his impression on and off of the football field. Being a College Student is why the Seniors chose to attend CSU. Earning a College Education is the most important reason for coming to college. Being a Student Athlete is an extra incentive. Regardless of whether or not Central State was victorious, each of the Seniors did his best to be a part of the foundation. That foundation will be something which Future Marauders can utilize. Success may not be the current norm. In the future, something which today’s Seniors have contributed to the foundation (during their time at CSU) will ensure future success does become the norm. Along with the rest of the team, the Seniors put their Health & Well-Being at risk. For doing so, all of the young men earn my Respect & Admiration.

Central State has won the Official Coin Toss. CSU has elected to receive. After Darian Nelson went on to make a 46-Yard Kickoff Return, the Marauders’ Offense got started on Fort Valley State’s 49-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Terraris Saffold rushed the football. Unfortunately, he obtained only 1-Yard. As soon as the play concluded, a Penalty Flag was thrown (14:42). The Wildcats’ Defense was personalized for a Personal Foul Violation (Face Mask). FVSU’s mistake moved the ball to the Wildcats’ 36-Yard Line. After the next snap, Saffold ran the ball again. This time, he managed to pick up 5-Yards (14:24). On 2nd Down and 5, Saffold ran for 11-Yards (13:47). Before CSU could run another play, its Offense was penalized for an Illegal Substitution. At 12:51, the ball sat on the 24-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 15, Nelson made a 9-Yard Rush. His play set CSU up for a 2nd Down and 1 Play. Saffold went on to obtain the First Down. His 7-Yard Run gave CSU a 1st Down and Goal on Fort Valley State’s 8-Yard Line (12:13). Once the ball was snapped, Saffold took the ball into the end zone (11:47). Trevor Teel’s Extra Point Kick was No Good. Central State leads Fort Valley State 6-0.

After Central State kicked the ball off, Fort Valley State’s Lorenzo Smothers went on to return the ball for 39-Yards. During the play, Smothers stumbled. Although he was bent over, Smothers managed to maintain his balance. Fort Valley ended up being assessed an Illegal Participation Penalty. The ball was placed on the Wildcats’ own 47-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 12, Christopher Weems picked up 3-Yards. Chauncey Jackson went on to rush the ball twice. After the second rush, the Wildcats’ Offense now had to deal with 4th Down and 1 on the Marauders’ 42-Yard Line. Quarterback Slade Jarman kept the ball. He picked up 7-Yards, and he garnered the First Down. FVSU soon had to deal with another 4th Down Play. With 9:01 on the scoreboard, the ball was still on CSU’s 35-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 3, Jarman completed an 11-Yard Pass to Bodarius Johnson. At 7:45, the ball was positioned on Central State’s 28-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 14, Jarman completed a pass to Jeremy Glinton. The 24-Yard Completion placed the ball on the Marauders’ 4-Yard Line.

Fort Valley State started experiencing trouble. Jarman proceeded to rush the ball twice. The ball ended up being positioned on the 1-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and Goal, the snap was fumbled. Jarman was able to grasp the football. Then, he threw an Incomplete Pass (6:00). With the Wildcats now down to 4th and Goal, the team decided to make a Field Goal Attempt. Juan Serna’s Field Goal Attempt was Good. Fort Valley State trails Central State 6-3. With 4:54 on the clock, the ball was on Central State’s own 31-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 8, Nelson took the hand-off. With defenders bouncing off of him, he rumbled 11-Yards. Nelson was tackled on the 42-Yard Line. With 3:11 remaining in the 1st Quarter, CSU faced 3rd Down and 6 from its own 46-Yard Line. After the snap, Lavon Meeks completed a 15-Yard Pass to Renon Lorenzo. On 2nd Down and 10, the ball was still on FVSU’s 39-Yard Line. At the 1:49 mark, Meeks completed a 31-Yard Pass. Saffold was the lucky recipient. On the Wildcats’ 8-Yard Line, Saffold was brought down.

On 3rd Down and Goal, the ball was back on the 11-Yard Line. Meeks kept the ball. He ended up fumbling. Fort Valley’s Kevis Jones recovered the fumble. Meeks’ major mistake might have cost his team some points. Jones recovered the ball on his team’s own 6-Yard Line. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Central State leads Fort Valley State 6-3. As the 2nd Quarter got underway, FVSU’s Offense had a 2nd Down and 2 from the 14-Yard Line. Jeremy McCants moved the ball to the 29-Yard Line (14:54). On 3rd Down and 5, the ball was on the Wildcats’ 34-Yard Line. Jarman completed a 7-Yard Pass to Jeremy Glinton (13:14). Before Fort Valley could run another play, its Offense committed a False Start Violation. On 1st Down and 15, the ball was back on the 36-Yard Line. Jarman threw an Incomplete Pass. However, the Wildcats received a gift. The Marauders’ Defensive Back Johnathan Carey was flagged for Pass Interference (12:25). Carey’s violation moved the ball to CSU’s 48-Yard Line.

At 10:57, the ball rested on Central State’s 44-Yard Line. It was 3rd Down and 6. After the snap, Jarman completed a 10-Yard Pass to Tajee Steele. With the scoreboard reading 9:35, the ball was on CSU’s 35-Yard Line. Before the ball was snapped, Fort Valley State was penalized for a False Start. The Wildcats never recovered. On 4th Down and 16 from the Marauders’ 41-Yard Line, Fort Valley was forced to Punt (9:27). On 2nd Down and 3, Central State’s Offense was on its own 27-Yard Line. Scaffold picked up the First Down (8:34). He was tackled on the 33-Yard Line. From that point, CSU went on to go three plays and out. With the ball on the 33-Yard Line, the Marauders faced 4th Down and 10. The team punted the ball away. FVSU’s Offense fared no better. It went three plays and out. With 5:03 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, it was now 4th Down and 12. The ball was on the Wildcats’ own 29-Yard Line. When the ball was snapped, it flew over the Punter’s head. The Punter was able to obtain possession of the ball, and he made a kick. One of Central State’s Special Teams Players was unable to obtain possession. Unfortunately, he touched the ball. Fort Valley’s Special Teams Unit recovered the loose ball.

Fort Valley State started on its own 33-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Jarman completed a pass to Glinton. The 8-Yard Reception moved the ball to the 41-Yard Line (4:54). The next play ended with Jackson rushing to the 46-Yard Line. The First Down was picked up. At the 3:05 mark, the ball was on Central State’s 46-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 2, Jarman rushed for 10-Yards (to the 36-Yard Line). On 2nd Down and 10, McCants was given the ball. He rushed his way to CSU’s 5-Yard Line (2:20). The 31-Yard Run gave FVSU 1st Down and Goal. With 2:05 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Jackson took the ball into the end zone. After the successful completion of the Extra Point Kick, the Wildcats took a 10-6 Lead. With 1:57 on the clock, the Marauders had 1st Down and 10 on its own 35-Yard Line. Meeks completed a 13-yard Pass to Renon Lorenzo. Lorenzo was tackled on the 48-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Meeks completed a pass to Martell Clark. The 20-Yard Completion placed the ball on FVSU’s 32-Yard Line (1:39).

On 3rd Down and 12, the ball was on the 34-Yard Line. At the 48.2 Seconds mark, Meeks completed a pass to Nelson. For a loss of 2-Yards, Nelson was tackled. A Penalty Flag was thrown. Fort Valley State was penalized for a Personal Foul (Roughing The Passer). That critical mistake moved the ball to the 19-Yard Line. At 21.6 Seconds, Nelson made a rush of 9-Yards. Another Penalty Flag was thrown. Once again, Fort Valley State was penalized for a Personal Foul. This time, a Face Mask Violation was committed. The ball was placed on the 1-Yard Line. At 17.6 Seconds, Meeks kept the ball. He proceeded to make his way into the end zone. Teel’s Extra Point Kick was Good. At the end of the First Half, Central State leads Fort Valley State 13-10.

After the Halftime Break, Fort Valley State received the ball first. The Wildcats proceeded to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 2 from its own 27-Yard Line, FVSU chose to Punt (13:33). The ball was downed on Central State’s 42-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Saffold moved the ball to Fort Valley’s 42-Yard Line (16-Yard Rush – 13:20). On 2nd Down and 10, Meeks rushed the ball to 29-Yard Line (12:15). At 11:45, CSU’s Offense was penalized for a Holding Violation. That penalty gave the Marauders 1st Down and 20. The ball was back on Fort Valley’s 39-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 22, the ball was on the 41-Yard Line. With the clock showing 10:01, Meeks was intercepted by Fort Valley’s Zacharius Anderson. Anderson was tackled on his team’s 37-Yard Line.  On 1st Down and 10, Jarman kept the ball. He proceeded to run straight up the middle. Jarman’s 13-Yard Run ended at Midfield (50-Yard Line). From that point, Fort Valley would not do much else. On 4th Down and 7, Fort Valley punted from Central State’s 47- Yard Line.

After a great Punt was made, Central State’s Offense started on its own 9-Yard Line. CSU went three plays and out. On 4th Down and 7 from its own 12-Yard Line, the Marauders had to Punt (5:55). With 4:30 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, Fort Valley State faced 3rd Down and 9 from Central State’s 42-Yard Line. Jarman completed a 24-Yard Pass to Lorenzo Smothers. From CSU’s 18-Yard Line, FVSU now had 1st Down and 10. Jarman went on to throw 2-Incomplete Passes. At 3:37, it was 3rd Down and 10. Jarman completed the 18-Yard Touchdown Pass to Smothers. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Fort Valley State leads Central State 17-13. With 2:45 on the clock, Central State had 2nd Down and 1 on its own 44-Yard Line. Nelson rushed the ball to Midfield (50-Yard Line). On 1st Down and 10, Meeks ran with the ball (on a Reverse Play). His 9-Yard Run enabled the Marauders to have 2nd Down and 1. From Midfield, the ball would only get to the Wildcats’ 44-Yard Line. With 25.7 Seconds remaining in the 3rd Quarter, Central State punted.

Fort Valley State’s Offense started on its own 22-Yard Line. At the 20.5 Seconds mark, Smothers rushed the ball to Midfield (50-Yard Line). That 28-Yard Play closed the 3rd Quarter. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Fort Valley State leads Central State 17-13. Before a 4th Quarter Play could begin, FVSU was penalized for a False Start Violation. That penalty resulted in a loss of 5-Yards. On 1st Down and 15, Jarman completed a pass to Smothers (14:54). Unfortunately, Smothers only picked up 2-Yards. A 2nd Down Pass Completion obtained 3-Yards. On 3rd Down and 10, the ball was back at Midfield. Jarman threw an Incomplete Pass (13:31). The Wildcats received a gift from CSU’s Defense. CSU was penalized for Pass Interference. The ball was placed on the Marauders’ 30-Yard Line. With 12:14 on the scoreboard, it was now 3rd Down and 3 from CSU’s 23-Yard Line. Jarman completed a 23-Yard Touchdown Pass to Daniel Gordon. Once Juan Serna successfully converted the Extra Point Kick Attempt, Fort Valley’s lead became 24-13.

Central State started on its own 21-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Meeks rushed the ball to the 31-Yard Line (12:04). On 2nd Down and 10, Saffold picked up 13-Yards (11:30). He took the ball to the 44-Yard Line. After three plays, CSU was down to 4th Down and 2. The ball was on Fort Valley State’s 48-Yard Line. The Marauders had no choice but to conduct a play. After the snap, Nelson took the hand-off. To his dismay, Nelson was unable to pick up the First Down (9:09). CSU turned the ball over on downs. FVSU went three plays and out. On 4th Down and 9, Fort Valley chose to Punt from its own 49-Yard Line (6:59). The ball ended up being downed on Central State’s own 5-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Meeks completed a 22-Yard Pass to Darius Meadors (6:39). That play enabled the Marauders to have some breathing room. On 2nd Down and 10, Meeks completed a pass to Bobby C. Gist III. That 17-Yard Play ended on the 44-Yard Line (6:05).

All good things must come to an end! On 1st Down and 10 from the 44-Yard Line, Meeks completed a 38-Yard Pass to Saffold. Saffold got to Fort Valley State’s 18-Yard Line. Then, something bad took place. Fort Valley’s Defensive Back Aaron Dore forced a fumble (5:25). Dore went on to recover the fumble too. Then, he proceeded to get the ball to his team’s 44-Yard Line. Dore’s play ended up not meaning anything. FVSU went three plays and out. On 4th Down and 7, the ball was on the 47-Yard Line. The Wildcats punted the ball away (3:44). The ball was downed on Central State’s 15-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Meeks ran the ball to the 21-Yard Line. When the ball was snapped again, Nelson took the ball from the 21-Yard Line to the 27-Yard Line (3:14). The First Down was picked up. On the ensuing 1st Down and 10 Play, Meeks moved the ball to the 44-Yard Line (2:54). After a 2nd Down and 10 Play resulted in Meeks gaining only 1-Yard, the Penalty Flags went flying. Fort Valley’s Defense had committed a Personal Foul (Face Mask – 2:20). The ball was placed on the Wildcats’ 41-Yard Line.

At the 2:05 mark on 2nd Down and 10, Meeks rushed the ball to the 24-Yard Line (17-Yard Rush). The next play ended with Meeks being sacked. The play cost Central State 10-Yards. The ball was on the 34-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 20, Meeks picked up 13-Yards (1:18). Then, guess what happened next? The defender who took Meeks down committed a Horse Collar Tackle. That Personal Foul placed the ball on the 11-Yard Line. A rush on 1st Down (by Darian Nelson) ended with a loss of 5-Yards. On 2nd Down and 15, Meeks completed the 16-Yard Touchdown Pass to Renon Lorenzo (56.6 Seconds). CSU had to make a 2-Point Conversion Attempt. Meeks kept the ball. Unfortunately, he was unable to reach the end zone. By the Final Score of 24-19, Central State University lost its Final Home Game of the 2017 College Football Season. Did you notice something? During this entire story, you never heard me mention the name of Central State’s Starting Quarterback TRENT MAYS. Due to injury, I was informed that Mays was unable to play. Although Lavon Meeks made some mistakes, he did an Overall Adequate Job. However, I feel the following way. If Trent Mays had played in this game, I honestly believe that THE Central State University would have been victorious.

Trotwood Demolishes Xenia

Every calendar year, there is one activity which I very much look forward too. That activity is the annual release of Ohio’s High School Football Schedules. Most of my time covering games is spent at Beavercreek High School. Therefore, my first duty is to see which teams Beavercreek will be playing at HOME. I like to attend Home Games for Cedarville High School; Greeneview High School; and Xenia High School too. Once my inspection of Beavercreek’s Schedule is complete, I move on to the previously-mentioned schools. Coming into the year of 2017, there were two schools which I hoped would be on my list of teams to cover. One of the schools I knew that I would be covering tonight (Friday, October 20, 2017). The other school is one which I knew would be on Beavercreek’s Home Schedule. The two schools which I am speaking of are both Trotwood-Madison High School (TMHS) and Wayne High School (WHS). Not only are Trotwood and Wayne two of the best teams in the Dayton, Ohio area, but both teams are two of the best which Ohio has to offer. Besides just wanting to see both teams play, another significant reason exists too. L’Christian “Blue” Smith (Wayne) and Raveion Hargrove (Trotwood) are two athletes which I have always wanted to cover before each individual’s High School Career ended. Due to the fact that both athletes are Seniors, 2017 was either now or never. Recently, I got to cover Blue Smith (and Wayne) in Beavercreek. Tonight, I get to cover Raveion Hargrove.

Currently, I am sitting inside of Xenia, Ohio’s Doug Adams Stadium (DAS). Tonight, Xenia High School (XHS) will be hosting the Trotwood-Madison High School (TMHS) Rams. The Buccaneers’ task tonight will be an extremely difficult task. Defeating the Rams WILL NOT be easy! Coming into this Week #9 Contest, Trotwood possesses an Overall Season Record of 8-0. Heading into next week’s Highly-Anticipated Match-Up with Wayne, Trotwood wants to still be undefeated. Of course, the Rams’ focus needs to be on tonight’s game. Trotwood cannot make the mistake of overlooking Xenia. If Trotwood is unable to keep its focus solely on Xenia, the Buccaneers might be able to exit DAS with a victory in tow. Xenia will be the first team on Offense. The Buccaneers’ Offense started on its own 27-Yard Line. After Sincere Wells proceeded to rush the ball four times, the ball was positioned on the 39-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 9, Quarterback Christian Severt rushed the ball to Trotwood’s 38-Yard Line (23-Yards – 9:19). On 3rd Down and 5, the ball was on the Rams’ 33-Yard Line. Severt kept the ball himself. However, he managed to move the ball only 3-Yards. On 4th Down and 2 at 7:54, Xenia rushed the ball again. The First Down was not picked up. As a result, the ball was turned over on downs (7:54).

Trotwood’s Offense got started on its own 30-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Raveion Hargrove rushed the ball 13-Yards (7:47). The First Down Pick Up placed the ball on the Rams’ 43-Yard Line. After Markell Stephens-Peppers went on to complete a 6-Yard Pass, it was now 2nd Down and 4 from Trotwood’s 49-Yard Line. Once again, the ball was handed to Hargrove. This time, Hargrove was tackled on Xenia’s 43-Yard Line (7:09). On 1st Down and 10, Hargrove took the handoff. This time, he picked up more than 8-Yards. Instead, Hargrove obtained 25-Yards. He was brought down on the 18-Yard Line (7:00). With 6:47 on the clock, Stephens-Peppers completed an 18-Yard Touchdown Pass to Dallas Daniels. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood leads Xenia 7-0. The only big play of Xenia’s next Offensive Drive took place at the 5:47 mark. Jonny Shampton, Jr. made a 15-Yard Run. On 4th Down and 8, the ball was on the Buccaneers’ own 40-Yard Line. Xenia was forced to Punt (4:01).

With 3:07 remaining in the 1st Quarter, Trotwood had 2nd Down and 7 on its own 32-Yard Line. Stephens-Peppers completed a deep 43-Yard Pass to Daniels. On Xenia’s 25-Yard Line, Daniels was tackled. On 2nd Down and 10, the ball still rested on the 25-Yard Line. Once again, Stephens-Peppers connected with Daniels. The 12-Yard Completion got the ball to the 13-Yard Line (2:34). At 2:21, Hargrove took the ball to the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood-Madison’s lead now stands at 14-0. At the 2:17 mark, Xenia started its next Offensive Drive. The ball was on the team’s own 21-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Severt completed a Screen Pass to Meechi Harris. One of Trotwood’s Defenders missed a tackle. That was a major mistake! As a direct result, Harris blasted his way down the field. The 79-Yard Play ended with a Touchdown (2:07). After the successful completion of the Extra Point Kick, Xenia trails Trotwood 14-7.

Trotwood’s Offensive Drive started on Xenia’s 45-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Stephens-Peppers completed a 21-Yard Pass to Isaiah Winchester (1:56). That play moved the ball to the Buccaneers’ 24-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Stephens-Peppers kept the ball himself. He went on to pick up 11-Yards (1:11). With 24.8 Seconds left in the 1st Quarter, the ball was on the 11-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 8, William McDaniel rushed the ball into the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was No Good. Regardless, Trotwood possesses a 20-7 Lead. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Trotwood leads Xenia 20-7. On 2nd Down and 10 from Xenia’s own 42-Yard Line, Corey Burnette, Jr. rushed the ball. Unfortunately, he suffered a loss of 11-Yards (11:52). On 3rd Down and 21 from the 31-Yard Line, Shampton, Jr. kept the ball. He lost 1-Yard (11:11). On 4th Down and 22 from its own 30-Yard Line, Xenia had no choice but to Punt. The Punt was bad. It was very short. The ball was downed on Xenia’s 37-Yard Line (10:28).

Before the Rams could perform a play, the team committed a Delay Of Game Violation. The ball was backed up to the 42-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 15, Stephens-Peppers ran the football. To his own dismay, he ended up fumbling. Xenia’s Nick Willis recovered the loose ball (10:17). The Buccaneers did not keep the ball long. On 2nd Down and 10 from Xenia’s own 42-Yard Line, a rush took place. During the play, the ball was fumbled. Trotwood’s Javen Medley recovered the fumble (10:10). The ball was downed on Xenia’s 44-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Stephens-Peppers completed a Deep Pass to Daniels. The 39-Yard Completion placed the ball on the 5-Yard Line (10:00). On 1st and Goal, Hargrove moved the ball into the end zone (9:39). Stephens-Peppers’ 2-Point Conversion Pass was Incomplete. Trotwood leads Xenia 26-7.

Xenia’s next Offensive Drive started on its own 18-Yard Line. The Buccaneers went three plays and out. On 4th Down and 7 from the 21-Yard Line, XHS was forced to Punt (8:02). After a Personal Foul Penalty and an Illegal Block Violation were both committed by Xenia, Trotwood’s Offense started on Xenia’s 23-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 9, the ball was on the 22-Yard Line. After the snap, Stephens-Peppers was sacked (7:19). The ball was turned over on downs. At 6:39, the ball was on Xenia’s 26-Yard Line. Severt rushed the ball to 38-Yard Line. From that point, the Buccaneers’ Offense started struggling. A Holding Penalty was a major hindrance. It negated a First Down Pick Up on 4th Down. On 4th Down and 7, the ball was on Xenia’s 41-Yard Line. Xenia had to Punt (3:28). With 2:44 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Trotwood had to face a 3rd Down and 4 Play. The ball was on the Rams’ own 37-Yard Line. Stephens-Peppers completed a 14-Yard Pass to Daniels. Daniels was tackled on Xenia’s 49-Yard Line.

On 1st Down and 10, Hargrove was handed the ball. When he stopped running, Hargrove was standing in the end zone (2:33). Stephens-Peppers completed a 2-Point Conversion Pass to Jalen Watson. Trotwood leads Xenia 34-7. At the end of the 2nd Quarter, Trotwood possesses a commanding 34-7 Lead. After the Halftime Break, Trotwood started on Offense. The ball was on the Rams’ own 35-Yard Line. At 11:51, Stephens-Peppers threw an Incomplete Pass. A Flag was thrown. Xenia’s Defense was penalized for Roughing The Passer. The penalty moved the ball to Midfield (50-Yard Line). On 1st Down and 10, Stephens-Peppers completed a 10-Yard Pass. That First Down Play placed the ball on Xenia’s 40-Yard Line (11:46). Stephens-Peppers went on to throw another Incomplete Pass. After another penalty was assessed to the Buccaneers’ Defense, the ball was placed on the 25-Yard Line. At the 11:18 mark, the ball was on the 30-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 15, Stephens-Peppers ran the ball to the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood’s lead increased to 41-7.

Once Xenia’s Offense received the ball again, it did not possess it long. The Buccaneers started on its own 20-Yard Line. At 10:03, a rush took place. The ball ended up being fumbled. One of the Rams’ Defensive Players recovered the fumble. That player almost reached the end zone. He was tackled on Xenia’s 3-Yard Line. On 1st and Goal, Kennedy Coates took the ball into the end zone (9:59). The Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 48-7, Trotwood leads Xenia. After the ensuing Kickoff, the ball was downed on Xenia’s 42-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 8, the ball was on the 44-Yard Line. Severt went on to be sacked (7:35). With the clock reading 6:50, it was now 4th Down and 13 from the 39-Yard Line. Xenia decided not to Punt. Instead, Severt completed a 24-Yard Pass to Devin Hall. Severt soon suffered another Sack. On 3rd Down and 7, the ball was on the Rams’ 33-Yard Line. After the snap, Sincere Wells rushed the ball to the 26-Yard Line. In order for Xenia to obtain a First Down, Wells picked up the 7-Yards which were needed. On 1st Down and 10, Burnette, Jr. picked up the 26-Yard Touchdown (3:37). The Extra Point Kick was Good. Xenia trails Trotwood 48-14.

With 1:23 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, Trotwood was on its own 30-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 3, Stephens-Peppers completed a pass to McDaniel. The 21-Yard Completion placed the ball on Xenia’s 49-Yard Line. At the 42.6 Seconds mark, Stephens-Peppers kept the ball himself. When he was finally tackled, Stephens-Peppers was on Xenia’s 5-Yard Line (44-Yard Rush). At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Trotwood leads Xenia 48-14. Shortly after the beginning of the 4th Quarter, Trotwood faced 2nd Down and Goal. The ball was on the 1-Yard Line. Hargrove took the ball into the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood leads Xenia 55-14. On 1st Down and 5, Xenia was on its own 30-Yard Line. At 9:43, a rushing play occurred. During the play, the ball was fumbled. Luckily, Xenia recovered the ball. The ball was recovered on the 43-Yard Line. The Buccaneers’ Offense had picked up a First Down.

On 1st Down and 10, another fumble took place. Trotwood’s Jalen Watson recovered the fumble. Then, Watson proceeds to take the ball to the end zone (8:54). The Extra Point Kick was No Good. Trotwood leads Xenia 61-14. After the ensuing Kickoff, Xenia’s Burnette, Jr. fielded the ball on his team’s 10-Yard Line. Then, he proceeded to take the ball 90-Yards to the end zone (8:41). The Extra Point Kick was Good. Xenia trails Trotwood 61-21. With 6:53 remaining in the game, Trotwood had 1st Down and 5 on its own 30-Yard Line. After the snap, Keonte Huguely threw a Deep Pass. I thought that the ball was intercepted. I was wrong! Instead, Dallas Daniels made the reception. He ended up scoring a 70-Yard Touchdown. The Extra Point Kick was Good. Trotwood leads Xenia 68-21. By the Final Score of 68-21, Trotwood-Madison High School would go on to defeat Xenia High School. Trotwood came to Xenia, and the team did exactly what I thought it would do. Now, it is on to the BIG-GAME! Next Friday night, Trotwood will host Wayne High School. For a Week #10 Contest, it gets no better than Wayne vs. Trotwood. For the entire Dayton, Ohio area, the Regular Season will end on a CLASSIC NOTE. It is one game which I encourage every Ohio High School Football Fan to not miss. Get to Trotwood, Ohio, and get there early. Without any shadow of a doubt, the game will be a SELLOUT.

Central State Allows Another Game To Slip Away

Out of any Central State University (CSU) Football Game, today is always a Very Special Day. Today (Saturday, October 7, 2017) is HOMECOMING SATURDAY! Although the football game is considered The “Main Attraction,” the entire event is about more than just a sporting event. All of the events which make up Homecoming start on Wednesday. On Sunday, the annual occasion concludes. What always makes CSU’s Homecoming so special? It is one time of the year when a large amount of alumni COME HOME. Of course, alumni are not the only people who visit the campus. As you walk around the campus, it is possible for you to come into contact with former CSU Faculty & Staff Members. For me, I am an alumnus. Therefore, I am able to partake in any of the various events. Without any shadow of a doubt, Central State University is my Second Home. The campus is what I like to refer to as my personal Comfort Zone. Whenever I am experiencing problems in my life, Central State is my place to go. For an amount of time, I can escape from any problems which present themselves. Instead of worrying, my mindset can be on positive things.

As I currently sit in the Marauders’ McPherson Stadium, I am reminded of one issue. Work has to be done! There is a time and place for me to enjoy Homecoming Festivities. Right now is not the time. Definitely, it is not the place either. In just mere minutes, I will be performing the duties of a Sports Journalist. I will be covering CSU’s Homecoming Football Game. To date, CSU’s Overall Season Record is: 0-5. At the end of today’s Homecoming Game, will CSU finally earn Victory #1? If Miles College (MC) has its way, that will not happen. Miles College won the Official Coin Toss. The Golden Bears has opted to receive. After the game got underway, Miles’ Offense started on its own 25-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Quarterback Joseph Cambridge threw an Incomplete Pass to Devante’ Williams (14:53). Williams was wide-open. However, he dropped the ball.

After Central State’s Defense was assessed a Penalty (Offside Violation), Miles College faced 3rd Down and 2 from its own 33-Yard Line. At 13:47, Cambridge completed a pass to Williams. The 24-Yard Completion placed the ball on the Marauders’ 43-Yard Line. Justin Hardy went on to rush the ball twice. The ball was moved to the 37-Yard Line. With 12:16 on the clock, Miles faced 3rd Down and 4. Cambridge threw an Incomplete Pass. On 4th Down, the Golden Bears decided to go for a Field Goal Attempt. The Field Goal Kick was missed (12:11). CSU took over possession on its own 37-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Terraris Saffold made a 5-Yard Rush. The ensuing, two plays ended with Incomplete Passes. However, Central State got a lucky break. Miles committed a Holding Violation (11:25). The mistake enabled CSU to have a 1st Down and 10 on MC’s 49-Yard Line. Before the Marauders’ Offense was able to perform another play, it was flagged for a False Start (11:24).

The 5-Yard Penalty moved the ball back to Central State’s 46-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 15, Saffold was handed the ball. He went absolutely nowhere. Miles’ Defense was all over him. On 2nd Down and 15, Trent Mays completed a 10-Yard Pass to Lavon Meeks (10:33). The play moved the ball back into the Golden Bears’ territory (44-Yard Line). At 9:50, the Marauders had to deal with 3rd Down and 5. Saffold took the hand-off. He sped his way all the way to the end zone (44-Yard Touchdown Run). Trevor Teel’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Central State leads Miles College 7-0. After the Kickoff, MC started on its own 21-Yard Line. Hardy made 2-Rushes. He did not obtain a First Down. With 8:28 on the scoreboard, it came down to 3rd Down and 1 on the 30-Yard Line. Hardy picked up the First Down (3-Yard Rush). On 1st Down from the 33-Yard Line, Cambridge threw an Incomplete Pass to Williams (7:59). Once again, Williams was wide-open.

During the next play, Cambridge completed an 8-Yard Pass to Jourdan Walker (7:54). At 7:19, Miles faced 3rd Down and 2 from its own 41-Yard Line. Cambridge completed a pass to Antonio Lee. Lee’s 4-Yard Reception moved the ball to the 45-Yard Line. The Offensive Drive started experiencing problems. Before a 3rd Down and 10 Play, MC was penalized. The 5-Yard Violation moved the ball back to the 40-Yard Line.  With 6:29 remaining in the 1st Quarter, the Golden Bears faced 3rd Down and 15. After the snap, Cambridge was sacked. The play resulted in a loss of 3-Yards. On 4th Down and 18, the ball was on the 37-Yard Line. Miles’ Punter Nick Christiansen was forced to Punt. From its own 29-Yard Line, Central State’s Offense got started. Immediately on 1st Down and 10, Mays makes a 15-Yard Rush (5:39). Saffold went on to pick up 3-Yards. On 2nd and 7 from CSU’s 47-Yard Line, Saffold ran the ball again. This time, a Personal Foul Penalty (against the Marauders) negated the play (4:23).

After the penalty was assessed, the ball was moved back to Central State’s 33-Yard Line. Saffold went on to gain 1-Yard. On 3rd Down and 20, the ball was on the 34-Yard Line. Mays kept the ball. To his dismay, he ended up losing 1-Yard (3:15). At the 2:37 mark, it was now 4th Down and 21 from the Marauders’ 33-Yard Line. After the snap was muffed, the Punter was able to obtain possession of the ball. He attempted to run. He managed to get a Punt off. The ball was downed on the Golden Bears’ own 40-Yard Line. Hardy made 2-Rushes. The ball sat on 44-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 6, Cambridge completed a 14-Yard Pass to Walker (1:29). Walker was tackled on CSU’s 42-Yard Line. With 1:11 on the clock, MC was penalized for an Illegal Substitution. That penalty resulted in a 5-Yard Loss. The officials placed the ball on the Marauders’ 47-Yard Line.

On 1st Down and 15, an Incomplete Pass was thrown. Then, a flag flew to the ground. Central State’s Darrel Latham was penalized for Roughing The Passer (55.6 Seconds). Latham’s mistake gave Miles College a 1st Down and 10 on CSU’s 32-Yard Line. With 22.6 Seconds remaining in the 1st Quarter, the Golden Bears’ Christian Mays made a 20-Yard Run. He was brought down on the Marauders’ 13-Yard Line. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Central State leads Miles College 7-0. Shortly after the beginning of the 2nd Quarter, Christiansen successfully made a Field Goal. MC trails CSU 7-3. Central State’s next Offensive Drive started on its own 25-Yard Line. The Marauders started with Saffold running the ball. Saffold gained 1-Yard. His next run resulted in a loss of 6-Yards. On 3rd Down and 15, the ball was on the 20-Yard Line. Mays threw an Incomplete Pass (12:33). Instead of having to possibly Punt, Miles gave Central State a gift. The Golden Bears’ Defense was flagged for Pass Interference. With the ball moved to the 35-Yard Line, CSU had a 1st Down and 10. Mays threw an Incomplete Pass. On 2nd Down and 10, Saffold took the hand-off. He raced his way 31-Yards downfield. Saffold’s run ended on MC’s 24-Yard Line (12:15).

At 10:26, Central State had 3rd Down and 9 on Miles’ 23-Yard Line. Mays ended up throwing an Incomplete Pass. On 4th Down, CSU decided to attempt a Field Goal. Trevor Teel’s Field Goal was No Good (10:21). MC’s Offense took over on its own 23-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 11, Cambridge completed a 13-Yard Pass to Leanthony Robinson (9:42). That play was followed up with Cambridge completing two passes to Walker. With 8:35 on the clock, the ball rested on the Marauders’ 45-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Cambridge threw a Deep Pass which ended up being Incomplete. The intended receiver had the defender beat. Unfortunately, the ball was too far beyond his reach. Cambridge’s next pass was caught by Robinson. At the 7:51 mark, the Golden Bears faced 3rd Down and 4 on the Marauders’ 39-Yard Line. After the snap, Cambridge threw an Incomplete Pass. At this point, Miles had an important decision to make. The team decided to run a play. With 7:40 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Cambridge threw an Incomplete Pass. The ball was turned over on downs.

Central State proceeded to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 2, the ball was on CSU’s 47-Yard Line. The Marauders had to Punt (5:42). In order to make an impact, Miles wasted no time. With the ball on MC’s own 23, the Golden Bears had 1st Down and 10. Cambridge completed a 13-Yard Pass to Robinson (5:32). With the ball now on the 36-Yard Line, Miles was about to deal with 1st Down and 10. At 5:05, Cambridge completed a 64-Yard Touchdown Pass to Antonio Lee. Christiansen’s Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 10-7, Miles College has obtained its first lead. Central State’s next Offensive Drive was filled with trouble. Mays suffered 2-Sacks. On a run, Saffold lost 4-Yards. On 4th Down and 25, the ball was on the Marauders’ 10-Yard Line. CSU was forced to Punt (2:49). After fielding the Punt Kick, Miles’ William Kelly went on to make a 43-Yard Punt Return (2:35).

Kelly was tackled on Central State’s 7-Yard Line. At the snap on 1st Down and 10, Christian Mays was handed the ball. CSU’s Kahari Logan forced Mays to fumble the ball (2:30). Fortunately, Miles College was able to recover the fumble. The ball was covered back on the 14-Yard Line. After 2-Incomplete Passes, the drive came down to 4th Down and Goal. The ball remained on the 14-Yard Line. MC got into Field Goal Formation. The snap was fumbled. One of the Golden Bears’ players managed to gain possession of the ball. After picking up the ball, the player started running. He was nearing the Line of Scrimmage. It looked like he wanted to throw a pass. No pass was thrown. The player was soon tackled. On its own 22-Yard Line, CSU’s Offense got started.

On 1st Down, Mays completed a 9-Yard Pass to Darius Ford (1:33). On 3rd Down and 1, the ball was still on the 31-Yard Line. At the 1:00 mark, Saffold took the hand-off. He proceeded to blast his way to Miles’ 10-Yard Line. The 59-Yard Rush gave Central State a 1st Down and Goal. The next play was a run (by Jerry Lanier). The run ended up losing 3-Yards. On 2nd Down and Goal, Mays completed the 13-Yard Touchdown Pass to Lavon Meeks (18.6 Seconds). Teel’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Central State has regained the lead (14-10). At the end of the First Half, Central State leads Miles College 14-10. As the 3rd Quarter got underway, CSU started on Offense. The ball was MC’s 39-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Mays kept the ball. Miles’ Marquel Shelton forced Mays to fumble the ball. Shelton recovered the fumble. The ball was downed on the Golden Bears’ own 42-Yard Line (14:55).

Rushes by both Hardy (6-Yards) and Cambridge (1-Yard) placed the ball on Central State’s 49-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 1, Cambridge picked up 12-Yards (13:42). With the ball resting on CSU’s 37-Yard Line, Miles started experiencing trouble. The team could not move the ball. After an Incomplete Pass on 2nd Down and 10, a Flag was thrown. The Marauders’ Defense was penalized for an Offside Violation (12:41). That 5-Yard Penalty left MC facing 2nd Down and 5 on Central State’s 32-Yard Line. Cambridge completed a pass to Robinson. To the Golden Bears’ dismay, Robinson was tackled for a loss of 4-Yards (12:37). On 3rd Down and 9, Cambridge threw an Incomplete Pass. With 11:45 on the clock, it was now 4th Down and 9. The ball was on CSU’s 36-Yard Line. Cambridge threw another pass. Once again, the pass was incomplete (11:45).  Miles turned the ball over on downs. Central State took over possession on its own 36-Yard Line.

Once Terraris Saffold completed 4-Rushes, the ball sat on Miles’ 36-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 7, Mays threw a pass to Lavon Meeks. Meeks was positioned near the end zone. However, Meeks dropped the ball. On 3rd Down and 7, Saffold rushed for 10-Yards (9:08). With the ball moved to the 26-Yard Line, Mays went on to throw an Incomplete Pass. At 8:18 on 2nd Down and 10, Mays completed a pass to Martell Clark. The 13-Yard Completion got the ball on the 13-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Saffold rushed to the 4-Yard Line (7:40). During the next play, Saffold obtained the 1-Yard which needed to occur. With the ball on the 3-Yard Line, Central State made a surprising decision. On 2nd and Goal, the Marauders decided to make a Field Goal Attempt. I just did not understand why the team did not keep attempting to make a Touchdown. Teel’s Field Goal Attempt was Good. Central State now leads Miles College 17-10.

Miles College’s Leonard Tyree received the Kickoff on his team’s 1-Yard Line. Tyree proceeded to make a 38-Yard Kickoff Return. With 5:07 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, the ball sat on the 41-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 8, Cambridge completed a 9-Yard Pass to Trey Smith. The ball rested at Midfield (50-Yard Line).  The Golden Bears soon made a major mistake. On 3rd Down and 8 from Central State’s 48-Yard Line, Cambridge rushed the football. At 3:54, MC was penalized for a Chop Block Violation. That penalty moved the ball back to Miles’ own 37-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 23, Cambridge completed a pass to Mays (3:26). The 13-Yard Completion was not enough to garner a First Down. Miles decided to gamble. With the ball on Central State’s 49-Yard Line, it was now 4th Down and 9. Christiansen made a Fake Punt Rush. He was unable to pick up a First Down (2:48). Central State’s Offense started on its own 47-Yard Line.

Immediately, Mays completes a 10-Yard Pass to Saffold (2:42). With 44.4 Seconds remaining in the 3rd Quarter, Central State faced 3rd Down and 5 on Miles’ 32-Yard Line. Mays threw an Incomplete Pass. CSU decided not to Punt. On 4th Down and 5, Mays threw another Incomplete Pass (28.2 Seconds). The Marauders turned the ball over on downs. Before the 3rd Quarter ended, Cambridge made a 16-Yard Rush. With no time remaining on the clock, Cambridge completed an 18-Yard Pass to Lee. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Central State leads Miles College 17-10. At 14:24 of the 4th Quarter, it was 2nd Down and 9. The ball was on CSU’s 33-Yard Line. Cambridge completed an 11-Yard Pass to Tyree. On 1st Down and 10 from CSU’s 22-Yard Line, Hardy took the ball into the end zone (13:55). Christiansen’s Extra Point Kick was Good. The game is tied 17-17.

Central State went three plays and out. At 11:38, the ball was on CSU’s own 33-Yard Line. It was 4th Down and 2. The Marauders decided to perform a Punt. The Punt was blocked. Miles College’s Jourdan Walker recovered the loose ball on CSU’s 10-Yard Line. Then, he took the ball to the end zone. Christiansen’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Miles College leads Central State 24-17. With 10:49 on the scoreboard, CSU had 2nd Down and 4 from its own 31-Yard Line. Mays completed a 39-Yard Pass to Clark. Clark was brought down on MC’s 30-Yard Line. After Saffold was tackled for a loss of 2-Yards, the Marauders had to deal with 2nd Down and 12 from the Golden Bears’ 32-Yard Line. Mays was intercepted by Miles’ Defense. However, a Pass Interference Penalty (against Miles) negated Mays’ mistake (9:42). An Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalty was soon charged against Miles’ Defense too.

The ball was placed on Miles’ 9-Yard Line. Central State was unable to get the ball into the end zone. On 4th Down and Goal, the ball was on the 11-Yard Line. Teel successfully converted a Field Goal Attempt (7:51). By the score of 24-20, CSU trails MC. That score would soon change. The Golden Bears’ Offense had a 1st Down and 10 on its own 19-Yard Line. Hardy took the hand-off. When he stopped running, he had just scored an 81-Yard Touchdown (7:30). After the successful completion of Christiansen’s Extra Point Kick, Miles College took a 31-20 Lead. After the Kickoff, Central State’s Offense was positioned on its own 9-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 10, the ball was still on the 9-Yard Line. Mays threw a third Incomplete Pass. However, CSU avoided having to Punt. A Personal Foul (Illegal Helmet Contact) Violation was committed by Miles’ Defense (7:12). The Marauders’ newfound opportunity went nowhere. With 5:43 remaining in the game, CSU punted the ball away.

After the Punt, Miles’ Offensive Drive started on its own 34-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Hardy was handed the ball. Guess what happened next? Hardy ran 66-Yards to the end zone (5:25). Christiansen’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Miles now leads Central State 38-20. When CSU received the ball again, the team started on its own 25-Yard Line. The Marauders would manage to move the ball to the 31-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 4, the only choice was to run a play. Mays threw an Incomplete Pass (3:59). CSU turned the ball over on downs. With 3:55 remaining in the game, Miles College was on CSU’s 31-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Ger’Kerry Jackson moved the ball to the 25-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 4, Jackson rushed to the 20-Yard Line. A Holding Penalty was assessed against Miles College (2:31). At 1:18, MC faced 3rd Down and 11. The ball was positioned on CSU’s 21-Yard Line. William Kelly rushed the ball to the 18-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 8, Christiansen’s Field Goal Attempt was Good. By the Final Score of 41-20, Central State University allowed another game to slip away. With a victory in tow, Miles College put a damper on CSU’s 2017 Homecoming Football Game.

Wayne's Offense Is Too Much For Beavercreek

At the beginning of the 2017 Season, tonight’s (Friday, October 6, 2017) game did not seem to be very attractive. Of course, that is how I was feeling. I kept on telling myself, “The Wayne High School (WHS) Warriors will easily defeat the Beavercreek High School (BHS) Beavers!” When Week #1 concluded, that was the sentiment within my mindset. I just felt that Beavercreek would have ZERO CHANCE of defeating Wayne. Week after week, the Beavers would pick up a victory. As a result, my mind was changing. To date, I have covered 4-Games for BHS. I have covered all of the team’s Home Games. In Week #1, I covered the Beavers’ Away Game in nearby Xenia. Although I am not a PERFECT EXPERT, I still consider myself to have a good sense of what BHS’s Football Team is all about. Led by Kaden Wenger, BHS’s Running Game is Top-Notch. The Beavers’ Offensive Line leads the way for the team’s running success. To be honest, the Offensive Line is an important piece of the entire Offense. Last but certainly not least, Beavercreek’s Defense is THE TRUTH! Those attributes (which I just mentioned) are just some of the reasons for why BHS has been having such a good 2017 Season. Trust me, there are more! In order to truly understand exactly what I am talking about, you have to see BHS in action. Seeing the team live will give you a whole, new perspective.

Although WHS is not having its best season, the Warriors is still a major force to be reckoned with. The 2017 Version of Wayne’s Football Team is not the same team which it has been (in recent years). This year’s team has not been heavily strong. For example, take a look at Wayne’s 2016 Season. With ease, Wayne went through its schedule. Game Blowouts became the norm. Up until the playoffs, the Warriors looked completely unstoppable. This season, WHS has had to put forth a stronger effort. In order to compete and win games, that is necessary. Last week, Wayne lost its second game of the season. The team was defeated by Undefeated Archrival Centerville High School (CHS). Beavercreek lost its first game. Springboro High School (SHS) handed Beavercreek its First 2017 Loss. At the end of tonight’s game, which team will be victorious? While I cannot answer that question, I will say the following. Both teams have to be in a bad mood. Each team wants to make up for what happened last week. This ensuing game was already going to be interesting to witness. With both teams coming into this game with a loss, a game which was already going to be good is going to be even more special.

Wayne won the Official Coin Toss. The Warriors has elected to defer. Beavercreek will be receiving the ball. Beavercreek’s Offense started on its own 31-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 9, Sabastian Rendon rushed the ball to the 37-Yard Line. With 10:38 on the clock, the Beavers faced 3rd Down and 4. Drew Nanda picked up the First Down. His 23-Yard Run placed the ball on the Warriors’ 40-Yard Line. The team would not experience much more success. BHS’s Offense went on to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 5 from WHS’s 35-Yard Line, Beavercreek had to Punt (8:24). Wayne’s Offense started on its own 20-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 9 from the 21-Yard Line, Rashad McKee completed a 17-Yard Pass to Austin Mullins (7:40). At this point, the team started utilizing its Running Game. Unfortunately, Wayne was not very successful. The Offensive Drive came down to 3rd Down and 8. The ball was on the Warriors’ own 40-Yard Line.

At 6:05, McKee threw an Incomplete Pass. Wayne ended up getting a lucky break. Beavercreek was penalized for Pass Interference (6:03). Therefore, Wayne’s Offensive Drive would continue. The penalty moved the ball to Beavercreek’s 45-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Trace Kinnel was handed the ball. He sped his way up through the middle of the Offensive Line. Eventually, Kinnel was tackled on the 5-Yard Line (5:56). The 40-Yard Run gave the Warriors a 1st Down and Goal. At 5:38, Kinnel took the hand-off. However, he would end up losing yardage. Kinnel was tackled on the 9-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and Goal, McKee kept the ball. He got back the lost yardage, and he gained even more. McKee ran up the middle. His stopping point was the end zone (4:56). Garrett Russell’s Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 7-0, Wayne leads Beavercreek.

During the ensuing Kickoff, Beavercreek’s Special Teams Unit was penalized for Holding. That penalty made the Beavers’ Offensive Drive start on BHS’s own 10-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Cody Hocker picked up 15-Yards (4:51). From the 25-Yard Line, matters would just get worse. Instead of moving forward, the ball moved backwards. On 3rd Down and 14 from the 21-Yard Line, Hocker was sacked by Wayne’s Alex Reigelsperger (3:45). On 4th Down and 22 from the 13-Yard Line, BHS was forced to Punt. WHS’s Offense experienced instant success. On 1st Down and 10 from BHS’s 44-Yard Line, McKee completed a Touchdown Pass to L’Christian “Blue” Smith (2:43). Now, let me explain to you exactly how the spectacular-looking play occurred. At the 6-Yard Line, a defender grabbed onto Smith’s leg. The defender was unable to bring him down. Instead, Smith proceeded to drag the defender. As Smith got near the goal line, he snatched his leg free. Then, he turned around. Smith was standing in the end zone. Russell’s Extra Point Kick was good. Wayne leads Beavercreek 14-0.

With 1:38 remaining in the 1st Quarter, Beavercreek faced 3rd Down and 6. The ball was on the Beavers’ own 24-Yard Line. Kaden Wenger rushed the ball 26-Yards. He was tackled at Midfield (50-Yard Line). After the play concluded, Wenger was hurt. Eventually, he ended up walking off of the field. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Wayne leads Beavercreek 14-0. As the 2nd Quarter got underway, BHS was faced with 3rd Down and 3. The ball was on Wayne’s 43-Yard Line. Wenger picked up 2-Yards (11:55). Beavercreek was now faced with a critical decision. Instead of punting or attempting a Field Goal, the team decided to go for the First Down. On 4th Down and 1, Hocker obtained the First Down. His 2-Yard Run moved the ball to Wayne’s 39-Yard Line (11:17). On 2nd Down and 12, the ball was back on the Warriors’ 41-Yard Line. At 10:12, Wenger rushed the ball to the end zone. Marcella Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. BHS trails WHS 14-7.

Beavercreek went on to do something which it does every game. The Beavers made an Onside Kick. To BHS’s dismay, Wayne recovered the bouncing ball. The ball rested on the Warriors’ own 45-Yard Line. Before the Offensive Drive got underway, WHS committed a False Start Violation. The 5-Yard Penalty moved the ball back to the 40-Yard Line. On 1st Down, McKee rushed up the middle. He picked up the 5-Yards which his team had lost, and he gained additional yards. McKee was tackled on Beavercreek’s 35-Yard Line (25-Yard Run – 10:00). On 1st Down and 10, Trace Kinnel moved the ball to the 30-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 5, McKee completed a 10-Yard Pass to Blue Smith. After rushes by Justin Williams and teammate McKee, the ball rested on the 15-Yard Line. With 7:41 remaining in the First Half, McKee was intercepted in the end zone! Flags were thrown on the ground. Beavercreek’s Defense was penalized for Roughing The Passer. That major mistake allowed Wayne to maintain possession. The penalty placed the ball on the Beavers’ 7-Yard Line. On 1st and Goal, Alijah Fleming took the hand-off. Unfortunately, he was tackled for a loss of 5-Yards (7:36). At the 6:57 mark, McKee completed a 12-Yard Touchdown Pass. Steven Victoria was the lucky recipient.

Russell’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Wayne’s lead increased to 21-7. After the ensuing Kickoff, Beavercreek started on its own 19-Yard Line. The Beavers’ Offense went on to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 7 from the 22-Yard Line, BHS had to Punt (4:53). Wayne’s Offensive Drive started on its own 44-Yard Line.             With 3:44 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Beavercreek started its next Offensive Drive. The ball was on the Beavers’ own 25-Yard Line. At the 3:36 mark, Drew Nanda rushed the ball to Wayne’s 46-Yard Line (29-Yard Rush – 3:36). On 3rd Down and 10, the ball was on WHS’s 46-Yard Line. Hocker picked up 6-Yards. With 5-Seconds remaining in the First Half, Beavercreek faced 4th Down and 9 from Wayne’s 28-Yard Line. Jake Maloney completed a pass to Bryce Neuse. Very short of the First Down, Neuse was tackled.             As the Second Half got started, Beavercreek pulled out another Trick Play. Once again, an Onside Kick was made. This time, the Beavers’ Special Teams Unit recovered the loose ball. The ball was positioned on the 50-Yard Line (Midfield). After Wenger rushed the ball twice, the ball was on the 45-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 5, Nanda picked up 8-Yards. He pushed the ball to the Warriors’ 37-Yard Line (10:48). Once ensuing rushes from Hocker (3-Yards) and Nanda (6-Yards) concluded, BHS faced another, critical Third Down Play. With the ball now on the 28-Yard Line, it was 3rd Down and 1. Hocker kept the ball. He ran the ball to the 24-Yard Line (9:13). The Third Down Plays were not over. At the 8:09 mark, Beavercreek had to deal with 3rd Down and 5 from the 19-Yard Line. Wenger rushed the ball to the 13-Yard Line (6-Yard Rush). A Holding Violation ended up moving the ball back to the 25-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 14, the ball was resting on the 18-Yard Line. At 6:08, Hocker completed the 18-Yard Touchdown Pass to Sabastian Rendon. In order to make the Touchdown, Rendon had to dive (and stretch out) for the catch. Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Beavercreek trails Wayne 28-14.

After another Onside Kick, Wayne took over possession at Midfield (50-Yard Line). After McKee went on to make 2-Rushes, the ball was on Beavercreek’s 33-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, the ball was rushed again. This time, Kinnel made the run. His run obtained a 33-Yard Touchdown (5:00). The Extra Point Kick was Good. Wayne now leads Beavercreek 35-14. After the ensuing Kickoff, Beavercreek’s Offense started on its own 35-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 7 from the 38-Yard Line, Jake Maloney was handed the ball (during a Reverse Play). Maloney proceeded to rush the ball 29-Yards. The ball was moved to Wayne’s 33-Yard Line (4:20). With 2:53 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, the ball was on the Warriors’ 27-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 4, Hocker kept the ball. He attempted to run for the First Down. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful. BHS turned the ball over on downs.

Wayne’s possession started on its own 26-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, McKee completed a pass to Victoria (2:36). The 34-Yard Completion placed the ball on Beavercreek’s 40-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Kinnel rushed the ball. His 36-Yard Rush ended on the Beavers’ 4-Yard Line (2:12). With 1:51 on the scoreboard, Justin Williams took the ball into the end zone. After the successful completion of the Extra Point Kick, Wayne took a commanding 42-14 Lead. As the 3rd Quarter was coming to a close, BHS faced 3rd Down and 2 from its own 35-Yard Line. Wenger picked up 3-Yards. He obtained a First Down too. Once again, Kaden Wenger was injured. Once again, he walked off of the field too. With 7-Seconds remaining, Chris Lawrence made a 5-Yard Rush. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Wayne still leads Beavercreek 42-14. At the 11:55 mark of the 4th Quarter, Beavercreek’s Offense was penalized for a False Start Violation. On 3rd Down and 10 from the Beavers’ own 38-Yard Line, another Reverse Play took place. The ball ended up in Maloney’s hands. To Maloney’s dismay, he suffered a 3-Yard Loss (11:48).

On 4th Down and 13 from the team’s own 35-Yard Line, Beavercreek was forced to Punt. Wayne’s Justin Harris was the Punt Returner. Once the ball fell into his hands, Harris proceeded to make a 28-Yard Punt Return. He got the ball to BHS’s 42-Yard Line. Both a Holding Penalty and a Sack ended up severely hindering the drive. With 8:53 remaining in the game, WHS faced 4th Down and 20 from its own 48-Yard Line. The Warriors was forced to Punt. That Offensive Drive had zero effect on the game. Wayne had already put the game way out of reach. By the Final Score of 42-14, Wayne High School went on to defeat Beavercreek High School. After last week’s loss to Centerville, Wayne was on a MISSION. The Warriors had a POINT TO PROVE! WHS came into Miami Valley Hospital Stadium, and it did exactly what it needed to accomplish. In order to make the Division 1 Ohio High School Football Playoffs, both teams need to win out. Even if both Wayne and Beavercreek both do so, a Playoff Spot is not a 100% Guarantee. However, I feel the following way. If I was Centerville High School, I WOULD NOT want to play Wayne again! If both teams end up making the playoffs, a rematch is a strong possibility.
