Beavercreek Passes Test #2

TEST #1 HAS BEEN PASSED! Beavercreek High School’s (BHS) last football game was a 41-35 Double Overtime THRILLER! At the end of the game, BHS was victorious (over Lebanon High School). Beginning with the Lebanon game, the remainder of the Beavers’ 2017 Football Schedule contains quality opponents. Only one of the teams (Springboro High School) has a losing record. However, do not allow Springboro’s “Losing Record” to fool you! Just like the other GWOC (Greater Western Ohio Conference) teams on the schedule, Springboro will be no easy task. If you want to know if Beavercreek is a CONTENDER or PRETENDER, just watch how its remaining schedule plays out. Coming into tonight (Friday, September 22, 2017), BHS is 4-0. Fairmont High School (FHS) – (Beavercreek’s opponent for tonight) is 4-0 too. Therefore, a “BATTLE OF UNDEFEATED TEAMS” is about to commence. To be 100% HONEST, I must say the following. When (and if) Beavercreek suffers its first loss, that loss will take place tonight! While I knew that the Lebanon game was going to be a challenge, I was quite confident that Beavercreek was up for the challenge. As far as the ensuing game goes, my confidence level is not that high. In fact, I am worried. Fairmont is a surprising Undefeated Team. While I cannot speak for everyone, I can speak for Darryl Lesley McGee. Coming into the 2017 Season, I did not expect FHS to be this good. In fact, I did not expect the team to possess a “Winning Record” whatsoever. To me, Fairmont has been a HUGE SURPRISE. Tonight, can the Firebirds continue to shock me? I am about to find out.

Fairmont won the Official Coin Toss. The Firebirds has deferred (until the Second Half). Beavercreek will be the first team on Offense. After the Opening Kickoff, the Beavers’ Offense started on its own 30-Yard Line. Attempts by Cody Hocker and teammate Kaden Wenger to rush the ball did not go far. On 4th Down and 9 from the 31-Yard Line, BHS had to Punt. Fairmont received the ball on its own 17-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 8, Firebirds’ Quarterback Braden Miller took the ball from the 19-Yard Line to the 26-Yard Line (9:26). Before the 3rd Down and 1 Play commenced, a Penalty Flag was thrown. The Beavers’ Defense was penalized for Encroachment (8:47). Beavercreek’s mistake enabled Fairmont to have a 1st Down and 10 on the 31-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Miller rushed for 5-Yards to the 36-Yard Line. When the next play started, Miller ran again. Unfortunately, he lost 1-Yard. With 6:58 on the clock, Fairmont faced a 3rd Down and 6 from the 35-Yard Line. Miller moved the ball to the 40-Yard Line. He did not obtain the First Down.

Now, Fairmont had to make a decision. Will the Firebirds Punt? Will the Firebirds attempt to obtain the First Down? On 4th Down and 1, FHS decided to attempt to obtain the First Down. After the snap, Miller picked up exactly 1-Yard (6:14). Utilizing the legs of Jacob Perkins; Jesse Deglow; and David Stamer, FHS tried its best to gain a First Down. The team was not successful. On 4th Down and 7 from the 44-Yard Line, FHS had to Punt (3:34). Beavercreek’s next Offensive Drive started on its own 31-Yard Line. Immediately, Hocker moved the ball three yards. With 2:32 remaining in the 1st Quarter, the Beavers had 3rd Down and 7. The ball was still on the 34-Yard Line. Sabastian Rendon made a 7-Yard Run. On 2nd Down and 8, the ball was positioned on the 43-Yard Line. Wenger made his second, consecutive rushing attempt. He picked up 11-Yards (1:28). During the play, Wenger pounded his way through the Offensive Line. As he was proceeding to run, he dragged defenders who were clinging onto him.

With 34-Seconds remaining in the 1st Quarter, Beavercreek had a 2nd Down and 9 on Fairmont’s 45-Yard Line. Wenger rushed the ball 10-Yards. On 1st Down and 10 from the 35-Yard Line, Wenger picked up five more yards. As the quarter was coming to a close, the Beavers’ Stevie Llanas made a 4-Yard Run (4-Seconds). At the end of the 1st Quarter, the score is still tied 0-0. As the 2nd Quarter got underway, BHS had to deal with 3rd Down and 1 on FHS’s 26-Yard Line. The ball was handed to Wenger. The Firebirds’ Defense was instantly on him. He got nowhere. On 4th Down and 1, Wenger was given the ball again. Once again, he got nowhere. Beavercreek turned the ball over on downs (11:17). On its own 26-Yard Line, Fairmont’s Offense took over possession. On 1st Down, Miller kept the ball. He proceeded to run the ball 30-Yards. That play gave the Firebirds a 1st Down and 10 on BHS’s 44-Yard Line (11:10).

On 2nd Down and 9 from the 43-Yard Line, Miller completed a 30-Yard Pass to Ryan Hall (10:02). In order to make the catch, Hall had to jump high into the air. After he came back down and started running, he had to spin around to avoid a tackle. A few steps later, Hall was tackled on Beavercreek’s 13-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Miller rushed the football. For a loss of 2-Yards, he was stopped. The next play gained only 1-Yard. On 3rd Down and 11 from the Beavers’ 14-Yard Line, Miller threw an Incomplete Pass (8:01). On 4th Down and 11, Asher Rohm successfully converted a Field Goal Attempt. By the score of 3-0, Fairmont scored the game’s first points. After the ensuing Kickoff, BHS’s Offense started on its own 33-Yard Line. During the drive, the Beavers managed to move the ball only 4-Yards (to the 37-Yard Line). On 4th Down and 6, BHS was forced to Punt. The Firebirds’ Offense fared no better. It received the ball on its own 25-Yard Line. Although the team managed to obtain 6-Yards, the team ended up facing 4th Down and 4. FHS had to Punt (3:33).

After Fairmont’s Punt, Beavercreek took over on its own 43-Yard Line. On 1st Down, the Beavers’ Sabastian Rendon sped his way downfield. After his 57-Yard Run concluded, Rendon had reached the end zone (3:15). Marcella Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Beavercreek now leads Fairmont 7-3. At the 3:14 mark, Cash made an Onside Kick. BHS’s Special Teams Unit recovered the kick (3:14). With 3:13 remaining in the First Half, BHS had the ball at Midfield (50-Yard Line). On 2nd Down and 9, Rendon picked up 9-Yards (to the Firebirds’ 40-Yard Line).  With 2:09 on the scoreboard, Wenger took the handoff. He proceeded to move the ball to the 19-Yard Line (21-Yards). Once the ensuing First Down Play ended, Hocker had been tackled for a 5-Yard Loss. On 2nd Down and 15 from the 24-Yard Line, Wenger made a 20-Yard Run (1:13). Before the next play started, Beavercreek was penalized for Illegal Procedure (50-Seconds). Instead of the ball being on the 4-Yard Line, the ball was pushed back to the 9-Yard Line. On 1st and Goal, Hocker took the ball to the end zone (36-Seconds). Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 14-3, BHS leads FHS.

With 34-Seconds remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Fairmont had 1st Down and 10 on its own 31-Yard Line. At the 24-Seconds mark, Fairmont’s Kennon Burroughs was intercepted by Beavercreek’s Maurice Wilson. With only seconds remaining until the Halftime Break, the Beavers faced 4th Down and 5 from the Firebirds’ 16-Yard Line. BHS had to go with a Field Goal Attempt. Cash’s Field Goal Attempt was No Good. At the end of the First Half, Beavercreek possesses a 14-3 Lead. As the Second Half got underway, Beavercreek repeated something which happened in the First Half. Marcella Cash made another Onside Kick. Once again, the Beavers recovered the ball. Stevie Llanas made the recovery (11:59). The ball rested on the Firebirds’ 46-Yard Line. At 10:17, Beavercreek had a 4th Down and 1 on the 37-Yard Line. Wenger rushed the ball to the 28-Yard Line. After Wenger went on to rush the ball twice, the ball was on Fairmont’s 11-Yard Line. To get there, Wenger picked up 13-Yards (from the 24-Yard Line to the 11-Yard Line) – (9:21).

Drew Nanda; Wenger; and Hocker went on to each make 1-Rush. None of the players was able to obtain a First Down. Now, Beavercreek had to make another 4th Down Decision. The Beavers decided to attempt to retrieve the First Down. On 4th Down and 3, the ball was positioned on Fairmont’s 4-Yard Line. After the snap from center, Hocker kept the ball. As close as he came to obtaining the First Down, Hocker was stopped on the 3-Yard Line (7:17). BHS turned the ball over on downs. The Firebirds’ Offense was backed up on its own 3-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Jesse Deglow rushed with the ball. On the 3-Yard Line, Deglow was instantly tackled. On 2nd Down, Deglow was given the ball again. This time, he got to the 6-Yard Line. With 5:53 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, FHS faced 3rd Down and 7. For a third, consecutive time, Deglow ran with the ball. His run gained only 1-Yard. At the 5:16 mark, Fairmont had to Punt.

Beavercreek’s Offense got started on its own 39-Yard Line. The ball never made it past the 41-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 12, the Beavers punted (3:32). Fairmont started its Offensive Drive on the team’s own 20-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 9, the ball rested on the 21-Yard Line. Miller rushed the ball to the 28-Yard Line (2:54). With 2:13 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, the Firebirds faced 3rd Down and 2. A run placed the ball on the 40-Yard Line. As a direct result, FHS obtained a First Down. On 1st Down and 10, Miller completed a pass to a wide-open Kennon Burroughs. The 29-Yard Pass Completion gave Fairmont a First Down. The ball sat on BHS’s 30-Yard Line (1:48). On 1st Down and 10, Miller rushed the ball to the 27-Yard Line. The next play had Miller completing a pass to Burroughs. To Burroughs’ dismay, he was quickly tackled. He was unable to gain anything. The ball remained on the 27-Yard Line.

At the 35-Seconds mark, Fairmont had 3rd Down and 7 on Beavercreek’s 27-Yard Line. Deglow ran the ball to the 23-Yard Line. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, BHS leads FHS 14-3. After the 4th Quarter started, it was now time for 4th Down and 3. Instead of choosing to Punt, the Firebirds decided to run the ball. That turned out to be an unwise decision. The ball was turned over on downs (11:57). The Beavers took over on its own 23-Yard Line. After Wenger rushed the ball twice, the ball was positioned on the 32-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 1, Wenger rushed to the 40-Yard Line (10:27). Another First Down was earned. Once Rendon moved the ball to the 44-Yard Line, Beavercreek faced 2nd Down and 6. At 9:17, Wenger picked up 9-Yards (to FHS’s 47-Yard Line). On 1st Down and 10, Wenger ran the ball to the Firebirds’ 38-Yard Line (8:49). On 2nd Down and 1, Hocker kept the ball. He did not move past the 38-Yard Line.

On 3rd Down and 1, Hocker ran the ball again. This time, he picked up the 1-Yard which he needed to gain (7:36). Beavercreek now had a First Down on Fairmont’s 37-Yard Line. The Beavers soon avoided a disastrous situation. On 1st Down, Wenger took the handoff. As he was running, he ended up fumbling the ball. Luckily, he had the awareness to fall on the ball. Wenger recovered his own fumble (7:13). The ball was on the Firebirds’ 26-Yard Line. Two more plays had Wenger rushing the football. He did not garner a First Down. With 5:34 on the clock, Hocker kept the ball himself. His 5-Yard Rush earned the First Down. The 3rd Down and 4 (from the 20-Yard Line) became 1st Down and 10 (on the 15-Yard Line).  With 5:11 remaining in the game, Stevie Llanas made a 9-Yard Run.

Llanas’ run gave Beavercreek a 2nd Down and 1 on Fairmont’s 6-Yard Line. At 4:30, Wenger picked up the 1-Yard. On 1st and Goal from the 5-Yard Line, Wenger rushed the ball again. This time, he fumbled the ball. In the end zone, FHS’s Defense recovered the loose ball (4:07). The Touchback gave the Firebirds’ Offense 1st Down and 10 on its own 20-Yard Line. With 3:58 on the clock, Jacob Perkins made a 29-Yard Run. Perkins was tackled on his team’s 49-Yard Line. At 3:43, Miller completed a 24-Yard Pass to Ryan Hall. Hall got the ball to Beavers’ 27-Yard Line. Miller went on to throw 2-Incomplete Passes. On 3rd Down and 10, Hall rushed the ball. He was tackled for a loss of 3-Yards. With 2:52 remaining in the game, Fairmont faced 4th Down and 13 on Beavercreek’s 30-Yard Line. After the snap from center, Miller proceeded to run the ball to the 16-Yard Line (14-Yard Run).

On 1st Down and 10, Miller threw an Incomplete Pass (2:33). The next play ended with Miller being sacked. For a loss of 8-Yards, Miller was sacked back on Beavercreek’s 24-Yard Line (2:28). The Sack led to Fairmont facing 3rd Down and 18. At 2:17, Miller completed a 13-Yard Pass to Hall. Once again, Hall made a spectacular-looking reception. During the process of the play, Hall had to jump up into the air. As he was making the catch, three defenders were near him. Hall was tackled on the 11-Yard Line. With no other choice but to conduct a play, the Firebirds’ Offense faced 4th Down and 4. After the snap from center, Miller went on to throw an Incomplete Pass (1:51). FHS turned the ball over on downs. With the victory now secured, the Beavers’ Offense proceeded to run out the clock. By the Final Score of 14-3, Beavercreek High School successfully passed Test #2! After this tough Defensive Battle, BHS does not have much time to celebrate. Next Friday (September 29, 2017), Beavercreek will be traveling to Springboro, Ohio. The Beavers’ opponent will be Springboro High School. Marauders Allows Close Game To Slip Away

Since the rebirth of Central State University’s (CSU) Football Program in 2005, the Marauders’ Offense has struggled mightily to find an adequate Starting Quarterback. Up until the 2017 Season, CSU has gone through quarterback after quarterback. Now, do not misunderstand what I am trying to say. In a somewhat decent manner, the position has contained individuals who have had some positive moments. In the long run, the team has been unable to find “THE GUY.” When I say “THE GUY,” I mean the following. The Marauders has not been represented by a “TRUE LEADER.” The Marauders has not possessed a Starting Quarterback who is capable of taking his team to the next level. Well, CSU’s Supporters need not worry any further! In my honest opinion, Central State University’s Football Team has finally found “THE GUY.” The right man (for the Starting Quarterback Position) has been found! Hocking Community College Transfer TRENT MAYS has arrived. Mr. Mays has been given the keys to the Marauders’ Offense. In order to make the Marauders’ Offense an efficiently running machine, the entire process begins with Mays. For the team to become more adequate, Offensive Players have to feed off of what their leader is doing. By no means is Trent Mays “PERFECT.” He has made mistakes. He has issues to work on. In CSU’s First Game of the 2017 Season (a Home Loss to Elizabeth City State), Mays proved to me that he possesses the qualities which can make his Offensive Unit better.

What is the reason for why I am so high on the Overall Performance of Trent Mays? Let me make one point. In CSU’s First Game of the 2017 Season, Mays made his receivers much better! Unlike in prior years, CSU’s receivers were efficient with making receptions. Although Mays threw some bad passes and intended receivers dropped some balls, Mays did manage to make some good decisions too. Those decisions were not made with just Mays’ arm.  Mays is a mobile quarterback. In order to make plays, he is good at utilizing his legs to their fullest potential. Coming into today (Saturday, September 16, 2017), CSU possesses an Overall Season Record of 0-2. At the end of the ensuing game, will that change? Can CSU obtain its first victory? If the Morehouse College (MC) Tigers has a say in the matter, that will not happen. Central State will be the first team on Offense. After receiving the kickoff, CSU’s Offense got rolling. The Offensive Drive started on the Marauders’ own 15-Yard Line. Before a play took place, a Flag was thrown. Morehouse’s Defense was penalized for being Offside (14:54). That penalty moved the ball to the 20-Yard Line.

After a 1-Yard Run and a pass completion which resulted in a loss of 2-Yards, Central State faced 3rd Down and 6 from the 19-Yard Line. At 13:58, Trent Mays completed a pass to Martell Clark. On the 35-Yard Line, the 16-Yard Completion gave CSU a First Down. On 2nd Down and 10, Mays completed a 6-Yard Pass to Lavon Meeks. Once again, the Marauders would be facing a 3rd Down Situation. On 3rd Down and 4, CSU came through again. At the snap, Mays completed a 20-Yard Pass to Darian Nelson (12:12). On 2nd Down and 4 from Morehouse’s 33-Yard Line, Nelson rushed to the Tigers’ 28-Yard Line (10:45). The Marauders just keeps on obtaining First Downs. With 8:51 on the scoreboard, CSU had to contend with another 3rd Down Play. On 3rd Down and 11 from the 27-Yard Line, Mays completed a 12-Yard Pass to Meeks.  At the 7:46 mark, CSU’s Offense committed a False Start. That penalty meant a loss of 5-Yards. CSU would not recover. Matters got worse. On 3rd Down and 15 from the 20-Yard Line, Mays was sacked (7:33). The play cost Central State 15-Yards. On 4th Down and 30, the team was forced to Punt (6:51).

Morehouse started on its own 20-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Kivon Taylor completed a 6-Yard Pass to Amyr Smith (6:39). On 3rd Down and 4, Frank Bailey, Jr. picked up 5-Yards (6:13). From the 31-Yard Line, the drive began to experience hiccups. Instead of advancing the ball, the team ended up only gaining 1-Yard. On 4th Down and 9, MC had to Punt (4:54). Central State went on to go three plays and out. With 3:04 remaining in the 1st Quarter, CSU had to Punt. At the 3:00 mark, a Penalty Flag was thrown. The Tigers’ Special Teams Unit was penalized for Roughing The Kicker. The penalty gave the Marauders a lucky break. Central State was awarded a First Down on its own 48-Yard Line. After Nelson had runs of 5-Yards and 4-Yards, CSU faced 3rd Down and 1 on the Tigers’ 43-Yard Line. Once again, Nelson was handed the ball. He picked up the First Down.

As the 2nd Quarter got underway, Central State had 3rd Down and 4 on Morehouse’s 31-Yard Line. Mays connected with Clark. Clark was brought down on the Tigers’ 18-Yard Line (14:52). From there, Nelson moved the ball to the 16-Yard Line. After Mays threw an Incomplete Pass on 2nd Down, CSU faced 3rd Down and 8 on the 16-Yard Line. At 13:45, Mays completed a Touchdown Pass to Meeks. Trevor Teel’s Extra Point Kick was No Good. The snap from center had been muffed. Regardless, Central State leads Morehouse 6-0. MC’s next Offensive Drive got started on the team’s own 35-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 7 from the 38-Yard Line, Taylor completed a 10-Yard Pass to Ryan Edwards (13:12).  With the ball now positioned on the Tigers’ 48-Yard Line, Taylor took the snap. He stepped back, and he threw a pass. To his dismay, Central State’s Defense intercepted the ball (12:45). However, Morehouse got a lucky break. Both teams were penalized for violations. Therefore, the Offsetting Penalties negated CSU’s Interception.

On 2nd Down and 10, the ball remained on the Tigers’ 48-Yard Line. Santo Dunn picked up 8-Yards (12:31). The ball was now in the Marauders’ territory (on the 44-Yard Line). On 3rd and 2, Taylor completed a pass to Dunn. The 2-Yard Completion placed the ball on CSU’s 42-Yard Line (12:03). At the 10:32 mark, Morehouse had a 3rd Down and 1 on Central State’s 33-Yard Line. Bailey, Jr. ran the ball 8-Yards. On 2nd Down and 12 from CSU’s 27-Yard Line, Taylor completed a pass to Smith (9:40). That 20-Yard Completion placed the ball on the 7-Yard Line. On 1st and Goal, Bailey, Jr. took the ball into the end zone (9:20). Fernando Sdelamora’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Morehouse leads Central State 7-6.  After Central State’s Arkalius Howard returned the kickoff for 34-Yards, the team had the ball on its own 45-Yard Line. The Marauders was unable to move the ball. On 3rd Down and 10, Mays completed a 42-Yard Pass to Tyrone Jones (8:49). Central State now had a 1st Down and 10 on Morehouse’s 13-Yard Line.

On 1st Down, Nelson ran the ball to the 1-Yard Line (8:23). At the end of the run, a First Down had been obtained. On 1st and Goal, Mays kept the ball. He made his way into the end zone (7:40). Central State decided to attempt a 2-Point Conversion. After the snap, Mays threw a pass. The pass ended up being incomplete. Regardless, CSU is still leading Morehouse 12-7. For MC, Ricci Nuckles returned the kickoff 30-Yards. He got the ball to the Tigers’ own 40-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Bailey, Jr. picked up 5-Yards. With the ball positioned on the 45-Yard Line, it was now 2nd Down and 5. At 6:47, Taylor completed a pass to Smith. Smith proceeded to go 55-Yards. When he stopped running, Smith was in the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 14-12, Morehouse regained the lead.

With 5:05 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Central State’s Offense was on its own 24-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 12, Mays completed a 21-Yard Pass to Meeks. Meeks was tackled on the Marauders’ 45-Yard Line. Before the next play got underway, a Flag was thrown. Morehouse had 12-Men On The Field. That 5-Yard Penalty gave CSU a 1st Down and 5 at Midfield (50-Yard Line). When the 1st Down Play got going, Nelson took the handoff. Unfortunately, the defense was immediately on him. He lost 1-Yard. On 2nd Down and 6, the ball was back on CSU’s 49-Yard Line. At the snap, Mays was sacked (3:32). As he was being hit really hard, Mays fumbled the ball. Luckily, CSU’s Terraris Saffold recovered the loose ball. The entire play cost the Marauders a loss of 14-Yards. On 3rd Down and 20, Mays completed a 24-Yard Pass to Nelson (2:34). With the ball now on MC’s 41-Yard Line, Nelson gave his team new life.

Nelson’s big play ended up being wasted. The Marauders went on to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 9 from the Tigers’ 40-Yard Line, CSU had to Punt (1:23). With 1:13 remaining in the First Half, Morehouse’s Offense had to start on its own 12-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Taylor was sacked by Central State’s Darrel Latham (1:00). Back on the 3-Yard Line, Latham dropped Taylor. After Taylor threw an Incomplete Pass on 3rd Down, Morehouse was down to a 4th Down and 19 Play. At the 9.6-Seconds mark, the Tigers had to Punt. Central State’s Curtis Jones blocked the Punt. In the end zone, C. Jones recovered the ball for a Touchdown. Trevor Teel’s Extra Point Kick was Good. At the end of the First Half, Central State leads Morehouse 19-14. As the 3rd Quarter got underway, Morehouse’s Offense started on its own 39-Yard Line. At 14:47, Taylor was intercepted by Central State’s Henry Alexander, III. Alexander, III took the ball all the way to the end zone (14:31). Teel’s Extra Point Kick was Good. CSU leads MC 26-14.

At 13:50, Morehouse had a 1st Down and 10 on its own 39-Yard Line. Taylor threw another Interception. Central State’s Alexander, III made a second Interception. As he was running, Alexander stumbled. He recovered. Eventually, the Tigers brought him down. CSU had a 1st Down and 10 on MC’s 25-Yard Line. Arkalius Howard started to run. As he was being tackled, Howard fumbled the ball (13:45). The Tigers’ Defense recovered the fumble. On 1st Down and 10 from the Tigers’ own 24-Yard Line, Bailey, Jr. rushed the ball to the 47-Yard Line (23-Yards) – (13:28). Morehouse’s Offense cooled down. On 3rd Down and 4, the offense was on the Marauders’ 47-Yard Line. Taylor completed a 13-Yard Pass to Smith (12:05). On 1st and 10, Taylor kept the ball. He rushed down the field. Taylor’s 23-Yard Run ended on Central State’s 11-Yard Line (11:48).

With 11:43 on the clock, Morehouse had 1st Down and 10 on Central State’s 11-Yard Line. Ronald Bradley pushed the ball to the 7-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 6, Taylor completed the 7-Yard Touchdown Pass to Ryan Edwards. After the completion of the Extra Point Kick, MC trails CSU 26-21. CSU’s next Offensive Drive started on its own 17-Yard Line. At 10:50, Mays ran with the ball. He was stopped on the 35-Yard Line (18-Yard Run). On 2nd Down and 10, Mays completed a pass. The receiver fumbled the ball. Then, the ball popped directly into the arms of the Tigers’ Keith Anderson (9:33). Anderson was tackled on Central State’s 42-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Taylor completed a 12-Yard Pass to Edwards (9:22). That play put the ball on the 30-Yard Line. On 1st and 10, Taylor completed a pass to Smith. The 10-Yard Completion moved the ball to the 20-Yard Line (9:09). On 2nd Down and 6, the ball rested on the 16-Yard Line. Taylor completed an 8-Yard Pass to Smith (8:30).

On 1st and Goal from the 8-Yard Line, Taylor rushed with the ball. During the process, he fumbled. Morehouse was lucky to have recovered the loose ball. Instead of the play losing yards, the Tigers actually gained yards. Taylor’s fumble was recovered on the Marauders’ 2-Yard Line. On 2nd and Goal, Bailey, Jr. ran into the end zone (7:31). The Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 28-26, Morehouse now leads Central State. With the ball on its own 25-Yard Line, CSU started an Offensive Drive. On 1st Down and 10, Mays was sacked by MC’s Antonio Johnson (7:25). The Sack cost CSU a loss of 18-Yards. The ball was now back on the 7-Yard Line. Central State now had to navigate through 2nd Down and 28. Before another play could start, the offense was accessed a Delay Of Game Penalty (6:41). Now, the Marauders had to experience 2nd Down and 31 from the 4-Yard Line. After the snap from center, Mays completed a pass to Meeks. Due to the fact that Meeks only gained 10-Yards, the ball rested on the 14-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 21, Terraris Saffold was handed the ball. He proceeded to speed his way down the field. The end result was an 86-Yard Touchdown Run (5:30). Teel successfully completed the Extra Point Kick. Central State leads Morehouse 33-28.

After a 40-Yard Kickoff Return by Ricci Nuckles, Morehouse’s Offensive Drive started on the team’s own 45-Yard Line. With 4:30 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, the ball was on the 44-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 11, Taylor completed a pass to Nuckles. The 10-Yard Completion moved the ball into Central State’s territory (46-Yard Line). The next play had Bailey, Jr. gaining 1-Yard (3rd Down and 1 – 4:05). On 2nd Down and 10 from the 45-Yard Line, Taylor completed a 33-Yard Pass to Smith (3:01). The play gave MC 1st Down and 10 on CSU’s 12-Yard Line. On 1st and 10, Taylor completed an 11-Yard Pass to Nuckles (2:53). Before he could reach the end zone, Nuckles was tackled on the 1-Yard Line. A run by Bradley was unable to obtain a Touchdown. On 2nd and Goal, Taylor got the Touchdown (1:41). The Extra Point Kick was Good. Morehouse leads Central State 35-33. Before the 3rd Quarter ended, Central State’s Offense started its possession on the team’s own 20-Yard Line. As the quarter was coming to a close, Central State was penalized for a False Start Violation. When the 4th Quarter started, the Marauders would now face 3rd Down and 10 from its own 20-Yard Line.

At 14:52, Mays completed a 10-Yard Pass to C. Jones. Once Mays completed a 6-Yard Pass to Meeks, Central State had 2nd Down and 4 on the 36-Yard Line. Darius Meadors rushed for 2-Yards. On 3rd Down and 2, the ball sat on the 38-Yard Line. At the snap, Saffold rushed the ball 43-Yards to Morehouse’s 19-Yard Line (12:42). On 1st and 10, Saffold moved the ball to the 13-Yard Line. At 10:51, CSU committed a False Start Violation. That penalty assisted with the derailing of the drive. On 4th Down and 10, the ball was on the 19-Yard Line again. The Marauders decided to have Teel attempt a Field Goal. That was not a good choice. Teel missed the Field Goal Attempt (10:30). The Tigers’ Offense took over on its own 20-Yard Line. The team ended up going on a long drive. The Offensive Drive reached the Marauders’ 9-Yard Line. At 6:11, CSU’s K’Jamus Sanders was standing at the goal line. He intercepted a pass which Taylor had thrown. Eventually, Sanders was brought down on the Tigers’ 24-Yard Line.

Central State went on to go three plays and out. The team was left with 4th Down and 9 on Morehouse’s 23-Yard Line. CSU’s Special Teams Unit got into Field Goal Formation. The ball was snapped to Meeks. He proceeded to rush the football. Unfortunately, his Fake Field Goal Rush obtained only 3-Yards (4:53). MC took over possession on its own 20-Yard Line. After Bradley rushed the ball twice, the ball was sitting on the 29-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 1, Bailey, Jr. rushed the football. Immediately, the defense took him down. Bailey, Jr.’s run ended with a loss of 6-Yards (3:38). On 4th Down and 7 from the 23-Yard Line, the Tigers punted the ball (2:55). With 2:44 remaining in the game, Central State started an Offensive Drive on its own 32-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 7 from the 35-Yard Line, Mays completed a 7-Yard Pass to Meeks (2:08). From the 42-Yard Line, the Marauders had 1st Down and 10. For a loss of 12-Yards, Mays was sacked. On 3rd Down and 22 from the 30-Yard Line, Mays was sacked again. This time, there was a loss of 7-Yards. With 45-Seconds remaining in the game, CSU had no choice. The team had to run a play. Punting was not an option. On 4th Down and 29 from the 23-Yard Line, Mays completed a pass to Meeks. Meeks was tackled short of the First Down. By the Final Score of 35-33, Central State University lost a game which it should have won.

West Jeff Dominates Cedarville

Coming into tonight (Friday, September 15, 2017), Cedarville High School (CHS) and West Jefferson (West Jeff) High School (WJHS) are on completely opposite ends of The 2017 Ohio High School Football Spectrum (in terms of Success). Currently, West Jeff’s Overall Season Record sits at 3-0. Cedarville possesses a 0-3 Overall Season Record. The two Ohio Heritage Conference (OHC) Members (West Jeff – North Division and Cedarville – South Division) are meeting in a Crossover Conference Game. I am very much interested in this match-up. Being that this is the first time which I will be watching the CHS Indians play (this season); I want to see how the team deals with such a powerful opponent. Another aspect is simply the following. This will be the first time which I will be watching the WJHS Roughriders play too. Therefore, I want to witness what the team is all about. For any Sports Journalist, seeing brand-new teams play is always enjoyable; entertaining; and very interesting. Along with new teams come new faces. Opportunities might present themselves for Sports Journalists to see occurrences which have never taken place. For Cedarville, this forthcoming game is going to be quite difficult. Of course, I know that. However, I know something else too. Cedarville’s Football Players have HEART. No matter how difficult the game gets, The Indians WILL NOT QUIT!

Cedarville will be the first team to start on Offense. The Indians’ Offense started on its own 27-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 11, the ball was on the 26-Yard Line. At 10:44, Colby Cross completed a pass to Andrew Pollander. Unfortunately, Pollander only picked up 5-Yards. On 4th Down and 6, CHS had to Punt. After the Punt, West Jeff started on its own 42-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Lance Lambert completed a pass to Zack Graham. Then, a flag was thrown (9:52). The Roughriders’ Offense was penalized for a Block In The Back Violation. The penalty moved the ball back to the 37-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 15, Lambert completed a 63-Yard Touchdown Pass to Caleb Vanhook (9:05). Jon Stevenson’s Extra Point Kick was Good. West Jeff leads Cedarville 7-0. The Roughriders’ Scoring Drive lasted 50-Seconds.

CHS’s next Offensive Drive started on the team’s 33-Yard Line. At 8:53, Cross completed a 7-Yard Pass to Pollander. On 2nd Down, Brandon Pollock picked up the First Down. He got the ball to the 45-Yard Line. The Indians kept the ball moving. After a run (by Kane Odon) and a Pass Completion (from Cross to Hayden Lee), Cedarville was left with a 3rd Down and 1 Play. Odon rushed the ball again. To his dismay, he was unable to obtain a First Down. On 4th Down and 2 from West Jeff’s 46-Yard Line, Cedarville decided to run a play. That was a wise choice. Cross garnered the First Down. The ball now rested on WJHS’s 44-Yard Line. A False Start Penalty soon got into the way (5:33). An ensuing play resulted in a loss of 3-Yards. On 4th Down and 12 from the Roughriders’ 46-Yard Line, the Indians punted (4:03).

After the Punt, the ball was downed on West Jeff’s own 6-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Wyatt Dillion ran the ball. He was tackled on his team’s 26-Yard Line (3:51). The next play consisted of Ethan Higgins rushing the ball. At the conclusion of that play, the Roughriders’ Offense was flagged for Holding. The ball was moved back to the 25-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 13, Lambert connected with Justin Gatley. The end result was a 50-Yard Pass Completion (3:15). The ball rested on Cedarville’s 25-Yard Line. After the snap on 1st Down, Lambert kept the ball himself. He proceeded to go straight up the middle. In the end zone, Lambert’s run ended (3:09). Stevenson’s Extra Point Kick was Good. West Jeff’s lead increased to 14-0. When the Indians received the ball again, the team started on its 40-Yard Line. The Indians went on to go three plays and out. With 1:38 remaining in the 1st Quarter, the Indians had to Punt.

West Jeff’s Offensive Drive started in Cedarville’s territory. The ball was positioned on the Indians’ 45-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Lambert completed a pass to Vanhook (1:20). The 12-Yard Completion moved the ball to the 33-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Lambert took the ball to the 20-Yard Line (1:02). With 51-Seconds remaining in the 1st Quarter, WJHS had another 1st Down and 10 Play. After the snap from center, Lambert completed a 17-Yard Pass to Jordan South. On 1st and Goal from Cedarville’s 3-Yard Line, Gabe Jones was given the ball. He rushed the ball to the 1-Yard Line. At the 23-Seconds mark, West Jeff’s Offense was penalized for a False Start Violation. Instead of having 2nd and Goal on the 1-Yard Line, the Roughriders now had to deal with 2nd and Goal on the 6-Yard Line. The clock was nearing zero. With no time remaining on the clock, Dillion took the ball into the end zone. Stevenson’s Extra Point Kick was Good. At the end of the 1st Quarter, West Jeff leads Cedarville 21-0.

As the 2nd Quarter got underway, Cedarville’s Offense was starting on its own 34-Yard Line. Once again, the Indians experienced trouble with moving the ball. On 4th Down and 9, the ball was on the 35-Yard Line. At 10:11, the Indians had to Punt. To add insult to injury, CHS’ Special Teams Unit was penalized for Illegal Touching (10:05). West Jeff set up shop on Cedarville’s 46-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Lambert completed a 20-Yard Pass to Zack Graham (9:56). On the next play, Lambert completed a 9-Yard Pass to Gabe Jones. On 2nd Down and 1, the ball was on the Indians’ 17-Yard Line. At 9:35, Lambert completed a Touchdown Pass. Austin Swaney scored the Touchdown. After the successful completion of Stevenson’s Extra Point Kick, West Jeff’s lead grew to 28-0. I am about to sound like a broken record. Cedarville went on to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 3, the ball was on Cedarville’s 42-Yard Line. Instead of punting the ball, the team decided to go for the First Down. At 7:46, Hayden Lee took the handoff, and he proceeded to run. He was quickly brought down. Lee gained only 1-Yard. With the ball on the Indians’ 43-Yard Line, the ball was turned over on downs.

On 3rd Down and 12, the ball was sitting on Cedarville’s 45-Yard Line. Lambert went on to complete a 10-Yard Pass to Graham (7:12). On 4th Down and 2, West Jeff decided not to Punt. Instead, Ethan Higgins picked up 2-Yards (6:49). Higgins’ rush gave the Roughriders a 1st Down and 10 (on Cedarville’s 33-Yard Line). After Lambert completed a pass to Dillion on 1st Down, WJHS now had to deal with a 2nd Down 4 from CHS’s 27-Yard Line. By rushing the ball 7-Yards, the Roughriders obtained another First Down (6:13). With 5:52 remaining in the Second Quarter, Jones rushed 20-Yards to the end zone. Stevenson’s Extra Point Kick was No Good. West Jeff leads Cedarville 34-0. At the 5:04 mark, Cedarville was positioned on its own 34-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 11, Cross was intercepted by West Jeff’s Graham. He was tackled on the Indians’ 25-Yard Line. After Higgins proceeded to rush the ball twice, West Jeff faced a 2nd Down and 1 on Cedarville’s 16-Yard Line. Once again, Higgins was handed the ball. His run gave his team a 1st and Goal on the 7-Yard Line (4:16). After the snap from center, Higgins moved the ball into the end zone (3:49). This time, Stevenson’s Extra Point Kick was Good. West Jeff leads Cedarville 41-0.

With 3:36 remaining before Halftime, Cedarville was positioned on its own 25-Yard Line. Before the Offensive Drive got going, a Flag was thrown. False Start had been called on the Indians’ Offense. The ball was moved back to the 20-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 15, Kane Odon ran the ball to the 27-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 8, Cross kept the ball. When he was brought down, he had reached the 43-Yard Line (2:00). With 51-Seconds on the scoreboard, Cedarville faced 2nd Down and 10. Cross completed a 42-Yard Pass to Lee. That play placed the ball on West Jeff’s 15-Yard Line. At the 18-Seconds mark, CHS’s Offense committed a False Start. The ball was moved from the 9-Yard Line back to the 14-Yard Line. Instead of 2nd Down and 4, the Indians now had to deal with 2nd Down and 9. Once the snap from center took place, Cross took the ball to the 10-Yard Line (11-Seconds). With no time remaining on the clock, Cross completed a 10-Yard Touchdown Pass to Andrew Pollander. The Extra Point Kick was No Good. At the end of the 2nd Quarter, West Jeff leads Cedarville 41-6.

To open up the 3rd Quarter, Cedarville attempted an Onside Kick. It was not a successful attempt. West Jeff’s Zack Graham scooped up the ball. He almost returned the kick for a Touchdown. Graham was tackled on the Indians’ 30-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Dillion rushed the ball to the end zone (11:09). Adin Benedict’s Extra Point Kick was Good. West Jeff leads Cedarville 48-6. On its own 34-Yard Line, CHS’s next Offensive Drive started. The Indians went three plays and out. On 4th Down and 14 from the 30-Yard Line, the Indians had to Punt (8:09). The ball ended up on CHS’s 45-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Lambert completed a 25-Yard Pass to Jones (7:35). On 1st Down and 10 from the 20-Yard Line, WJHS’s Higgins rushed the ball to the 5-Yard Line (6:55). On 1st and Goal, Higgins took the ball into the end zone. At the snap (during the Extra Point Kick Attempt), the snap was botched. The ball was scooped up. However, an attempted pass was incomplete. West Jeff leads Cedarville 54-6.

Cedarville’s Offense had the ball again. The ball was on the team’s own 33-Yard Line. The Indians went three plays and out. On 4th Down and 11, CHS had to Punt (3:31). On 1st Down and 10 from his team’s own 45-Yard Line, West Jeff’s Jones moved the ball to Midfield (50-Yard Line). The next play ended with Lambert throwing an Incomplete Pass. On 3rd Down and 5, Jones was handed the ball again. When he stopped running, he was standing directly in the end zone (1:43).  Adin Benedict’s Extra Point Kick was Good. West Jeff leads Cedarville 61-6. At the 11:13 mark of the 4th Quarter, CHS faced a 3rd Down and 3 from its own 47-Yard Line. Caleb Criswell rushed the ball to WJHS’s 48-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Odon ran the ball. He picked up 11-Yards (10:33). The ball sat on the 37-Yard Line. Another First Down had been obtained.

On 3rd Down and 10, the ball still rested on West Jeff’s 37-Yard Line. At 8:36, Odon rushed the ball again. This time, no First Down was obtained. Odon moved the ball 7-Yards (to the 30-Yard Line). With the game already out of reach, CHS had to make a decision. In order to obtain a First Down, the Indians’ Offense needs to garner 3-Yards. Does Cedarville attempt a Field Goal; Punt the ball; or run a play? The team decided to run a play. After the snap from center, Cross kept the ball himself. Then, he quickly obtained exactly 3-Yards (8:02). After Odon made two runs, the ball rested on the 23-Yard Line. As a result, Cedarville now faced 3rd Down and 6. For a third play, Odon was given the ball. This time, he took the ball all the way to the end zone (5:56). Instead of a Field Goal Attempt, the Indians decided on a 2-Point Conversion Attempt. When the play started, Cross threw a pass. Lee made the reception. By the Final Score of 61-14, West Jefferson High School went on to defeat Cedarville High School.

Beavercreek Wins Double Overtime Thriller

Tonight (Thursday, September 14, 2017) is the start of Week #4 of The 2017 Ohio High School Football Season. For Beavercreek High School (BHS), this is when it gets “REAL!” Thus far this season, BHS has had an easy time. The Beavers’ first three opponents each did not manage to present a major challenge. At the end of each game, Beavercreek was overwhelmingly victorious. From this point forward, matters will not be so easy. For the remainder of the 2017 Season, each week will present a difficult challenge. The first challenge is tonight’s opponent. Lebanon High School (LHS) has made its way to Beavercreek’s Miami Valley Hospital Stadium. Coming into Week #4, the remainder of Beavercreek’s Schedule includes 4-Undefeated Teams which all possess a Season Record of 3-0. Two teams possess a 2-1 Record. Finally, only one team possesses a losing record of 1-2. As you can see, Beavercreek will be going down a difficult path. Without any shadow of a doubt, the Beavers has to be at the top of its game. Plain and simple, BHS must be fully prepared for each game. There is no room for “SLACKING OFF!” Beavercreek is on a march to earning a potential Playoff Spot. Lebanon is the first obstacle which stands in Beavercreek’s way. The Beavers must find a way to get past the Warriors.

Beavercreek was the first team to start on Offense. The Beavers’ Offense started on its own 29-Yard Line. The unit had no success. On 4th Down and 11 from the 28-Yard Line, BHS was forced to Punt (10:05). Lebanon’s Offense started on its own 40-Yard Line. Immediately, Quarterback Kyle Short completed a 9-Yard Pass to Jake Tewart. On 2nd Down and 1, Brendan Lamb took the ball to Beavercreek’s 43-Yard Line (9:24). On 1st Down and 10, Short ran the ball for 6-Yards. Then, Lamb got the ball again. Instead of gaining yards, he lost 3-Yards. The Warriors Offense almost had a big break. At 7:39, LHS faced a 3rd Down and 7 from BHS’s 40-Yard Line. Short threw a pass to Alec Koch. Unfortunately, the pass was incomplete. The ball was too far in front of an open Koch. The defender was trailing behind. Had Koch made the reception, there is no telling what could have happened. On 4th Down and 7, Lebanon had to Punt (7:36).

When Beavercreek regained possession, its offense got on a mini-roll. After the kickoff, BHS was pinned back on its own 3-Yard Line. After two rushes from Kaden Wenger, the team was faced with a 3rd Down and 8 on the 5-Yard Line. At the snap, Wenger was given the ball again. This time, he picked up a First Down (6:06). The ball was placed on the 17-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Quarterback Cody Hocker kept the ball himself. He picked up 6-Yards. At the 5:16 mark, Sebastian Rendon took the ball to the 32-Yard Line. The Beavers went on to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 8 from the 34-Yard Line, Beavercreek had to Punt (2:52). Lebanon went three plays and out. On 4th Down and 10 from its own 35-Yard Line, the Warriors had to Punt (1:29). After the Punt, Beavercreek started on its own 20-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Wenger was handed the ball. He blasted his way down the field. In the end, Wenger was in the end zone. An 80-Yard Touchdown Run had been made. Marcella Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Beavercreek leads Lebanon 7-0.

After the Kickoff, Lebanon started from its own 15-Yard Line. Ethan Marsh proceeded to rush the ball twice. The ball rested on the 31-Yard Line. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Beavercreek leads Lebanon 7-0. When the 2nd Quarter got underway, the Warriors had a 1st Down and 10 on the 31-Yard Line. Marsh completed a 14-Yard Pass to Trevor Richmond (11:57). At 11:35, Marsh had the ball in his hands again. This time, he proceeded to rush the ball 55-Yards. At the conclusion of the play (11:35), Marsh was standing in the end zone. The Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 7-7, the game is tied. On its next Offensive Drive, BHS’s Offense experienced issues with two penalties. On 4th Down and 9 from its own 21-Yard Line, Beavercreek punted the ball (9:09). Two minutes later (7:09), Beavercreek took the ball back. The Warriors had a 1st Down and 10 on the Beavers’ 29-Yard Line. Short was intercepted by BHS’s Jake Maloney. Maloney was tackled on his team’s 13-Yard Line.

Led by the rushing of both Wenger and Hocker, the ball was moved all the way to Lebanon’s 18-Yard Line. Both young men were the only two Offensive Players to move the ball. On 1st Down and 10, Drew Nanda rushed the ball into the end zone (3:05). Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Beavercreek leads Lebanon 14-7. For the Warriors, it did not take long to get even. After the ball was kicked off, Jake Tewart fielded the kickoff at the 12-Yard Line. He ran all the way to the end zone for an 88-Yard Touchdown (2:48). The Extra Point Kick was Good. Once again, the game is tied (14-14). With 2:43 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Beavercreek had a 1st Down and 10 from its own 15-Yard Line. Hocker completed a pass to Drew Nanda. Nanda was wide-open. As he caught the ball, he fell down (on the 31-Yard Line). Had that not happened, Nanda would have scored. If he did not score, he would have had a much longer gain. No defender was near Nanda.

An ensuing Sack and a rush for a loss of yards derailed the drive. With 1:25 remaining in the First Half, the Beavers faced a 4th Down and 15 on its own 26-Yard Line. At the snap from center, the ball flew over the Punter’s head. The Punter managed to obtain possession of the loose ball. He was tackled on the 2-Yard Line. On 3rd and Goal from Beavercreek’s 3-Yard Line, Short completed a Touchdown Pass (15-Seconds). Alec Koch was the lucky recipient. Once the completion of the Extra Point Kick had taken place, Lebanon had its first lead (21-14). At the end of the First half, Lebanon leads Beavercreek 21-14. I could be wrong. However, I keep on having a feeling that this game will go down to the very last second. At the 10:24 mark of the 3rd Quarter, Beavercreek’s Offense received the ball. Lebanon had been forced to punt the ball away. The ball rested on the Beavers’ 14-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Wenger picked up 12-Yards (10:18). The ball had been moved to the 26-Yard Line.

A False Start Penalty soon got into the Beavers’ way. The penalty resulted in a loss of 5-yards. On 2nd Down and 13, Wenger took the ball from the 23-Yard Line to his team’s 37-Yard Line (9:06). Wenger just keeps on obtaining First Downs. With 8:38 on the clock, Hocker completed a 35-Yard Pass to Sebastian Rendon. The ball was now on the Warriors’ 28-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Wenger ran the ball to Lebanon’s 13-Yard Line. At 8:17, LHS’s Defense was penalized for an Encroachment Violation. That penalty moved the ball to the 8-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 5, Hocker rushed the ball to the end zone (8:14). Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. BHS has tied the game 21-21. After an Onside Kick, Lebanon started on Beavercreek’s 45-Yard Line. The Warriors went on to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 6, Lebanon had to Punt.

On 2nd Down and 7, the ball was positioned on Beavercreek’s 11-Yard Line. Nanda took the ball to his team’s 33-Yard Line (22-Yard Rush) – (6:19). On 3rd Down and 2, the ball was on the 41-Yard Line. Wenger went on to make an 8-Yard Run (4:33). With 3:00 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, the Beavers faced a 4th Down and 3 on Lebanon’s 44-Yard Line. Hocker moved the ball to the 37-Yard Line. After Hocker managed to run the ball twice, BHS faced another, critical 3rd Down Play. On 3rd Down and 8 from the Warriors’ 35-Yard Line, Wenger ran the ball. Unfortunately, he lost 4-Yards. At the 30-Seconds mark, Beavercreek’s Offense had a decision to make. From LHS’s 39-Yard Line, it was now 4th Down and 12. BHS decided to run an Offensive Play. During the process of a Reverse Play, Jake Maloney was given the ball. He proceeded to run to the 24-Yard Line. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, the scored is still tied 21-21. With 4-Seconds left in the 3rd Quarter, Wenger picked up 4-Yards.

At 10:44 of the 4th Quarter, Beavercreek faced 4th Down and 5 on Lebanon’s 19-Yard Line. Once again, the Beavers decided to run another 4th Down Offensive Play. At the snap, Hocker kept the ball himself. When he was brought down, Hocker was on the 7-Yard Line. Wenger went on to rush the ball twice. On 3rd Down and Goal from the 4-Yard Line, Hocker completed a Touchdown Pass to Rendon (9:10). Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 28-21, Beavercreek leads Lebanon. After receiving the ball back, Lebanon's Offense was on its own 40-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Short completed a 13-Yard Pass to Tewart (8:57). That is as good as matters would get. Eventually, a Holding Penalty would move the ball back to the Warriors’ 40-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 23, the Warriors had to Punt (8:02). The Punt was a good one too. When the ball was downed, it was on the Beavers’ 7-Yard Line.

On 1st Down, Rendon rushed the ball to the 20-Yard Line. Hocker and Wenger both tried their best to move the ball. Their attempts were just not good enough. With 5:19 on the scoreboard, Beavercreek had a 4th Down and 1 on its own 29-Yard Line. Maloney was handed the ball. As a result, he gave his team new life. Maloney’s run obtained 2-Yards. With some assistance from a False Start Violation, BHS went on to go three plays and out. On 4th Down and 10 from the team’s 31-Yard Line, the Beavers had to Punt (2:30). The ball was downed on Lebanon’s own 48-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Short completed a 33-Yard Pass to Derrick Allen. Allen was tackled on Beavercreek’s 19-Yard Line (2:23). Then, the trouble started. Lebanon had trouble moving the ball. With 1:27 remaining in the game, Lebanon faced a critical 3rd Down and 8 on the 17-Yard Line. Short kept the ball and he picked up a First Down. Wait a minute! A flag has been thrown. Luckily, the penalty was against Beavercreek. Beavercreek’s Defense had been penalized for a Personal Foul.

The ball was placed on Beavercreek’s 3-Yard Line. On 1st and Goal, Short was Sacked (1:09). That play moved the ball back to the 6-Yard Line. On 2nd and Goal, Short completed a Touchdown Pass to Allen (30-Seconds). The Extra Point Kick was Good. With 30-Seconds remaining in the game, the game is tied 28-28. At the end of Regulation, the game is still tied. The game was heading to Overtime Play. Lebanon won the Overtime Coin Toss. The Warriors decided to go on defense. The Beavers’ Offense took the field. The ball was positioned on LHS’s 20-Yard Line. After Wenger made two runs, BHS was left with a 3rd Down and 1 on LHS’s 11-Yard Line. Beavercreek's Defense Made The Difference

Beavercreek High School’s (BHS) 2017 Football Season started two weeks ago (Thursday, August 24, 2017). To begin the season, the Beavers went on the road. The team did not travel far. The Beavers ended up in nearby Xenia, Ohio. There is no better way to open up the season than taking the field against an archrival (Xenia High School). After going on the road for two weeks, BHS has now come HOME. In tonight’s (Friday, September 8, 2017) Home Opener, BHS will be facing another archrival. Tonight’s opponent is Fairborn High School (FHS). The Skyhawks vs. The Beavers is always an interesting game which to witness. To be honest, any Rivalry Game is interesting to watch. Like I have stated many times in the past, Win-Loss Records mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in Rivalry Games! Due to the level of competitiveness, you just do not know what is going to happen. Since a 2009 13-10 Overtime Victory, Fairborn has not defeated Beavercreek. In both the 2010 and 2011 Seasons, the teams did not play one another. In 2012, the rivalry was rekindled. Ever since that point, Beavercreek High School has won every game (in the series). Tonight, can Fairborn High School reverse the losing trend? We are about to find out.

Fairborn won the Official Coin Toss. The Skyhawks has deferred until the Second Half. Beavercreek will be the receiving team. Immediately, the Beavers’ Offense went to its powerful Rushing Game. The team spread the touches around. For each play, a different player took turns running the ball. Beavercreek’s Offensive Drive started on its own 30-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 6, the ball rested on the 34-Yard Line. At 10:42, Chris Lawrence picked up the First Down. His run obtained 8-Yards (to the 42-Yard Line). A short time later, the team faced another 3rd Down Play. On 3rd Down and 7, BHS was on its own 45-Yard Line. At the snap, Quarterback Cody Hocker kept the ball himself. He reached Fairborn’s 49-Yard Line. Unfortunately, Hocker did not obtain the First Down. On 4th Down and 1, Kaden Wenger rushed to the Skyhawks’ 41-Yard Line (8:42). For Beavercreek, Wenger’s 8-Yard Run obtained another First Down.

On 2nd Down and 8 from the 39-Yard Line, Beavercreek attempted a big play. At 7:50, Hocker threw a Deep Pass downfield. To the Beavers’ dismay, the pass was incomplete. The intended receiver dropped the ball. After a 3rd Down Rush (by Wenger), the ball was sitting on the 34-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 3, a Field Goal Attempt or Punt was not chosen. Instead, a play was going to be run. Once again, the ball was put into Wenger’s hands. This time, Wenger was not tackled. He reached the end zone (6:59). Marcella Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. By the score of 7-0, Beavercreek leads Fairborn. Upon receiving the ball, Fairborn’s Offense started on its own 31-Yard Line. The Skyhawks would not move the ball past the 34-Yard Line. On 4th Down and 7, FHS punted (6:36). BHS’s Offense started on its own 45-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 16, the Beavers was backed up on its 39-Yard Line. After the snap from center, Drew Nanda picked up 17-Yards (5:47). The ball rested on Fairborn’s 44-Yard Line. On 1st Down and 10, Hocker threw a pass to Jake Maloney. The pass was complete. Maloney was wide-open. He had a clear path to the end zone. The end zone is where he stopped running (5:30). The Extra Point Kick was No Good. However, Beavercreek led Fairborn 13-0.

After an Onside Kick, Fairborn received the ball on its own 45-Yard Line. The Skyhawks’ Special Teams Unit recovered the Onside Kick. On 1st Down, Wesley Watts completed a 7-Yard Pass to Gage Barron. On 2nd Down and 3 from Beavercreek’s 48-Yard Line, Trevor Smith rushed the ball to the 42-Yard Line (4:41). On 2nd Down and 10, Smith picked up 4-Yards. The Skyhawks’ Offense now faced a critical Third Down Play. On 3rd Down and 6, the ball was on the Beavers’ 38-Yard Line. Watts completed a Touchdown Pass to Shaunn Monroe (3:37). Damion Day’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Fairborn trails Beavercreek 13-7.  With 2:18 remaining in the 1st Quarter, Beavercreek faced a 3rd Down and 6 on its own 37-Yard Line. Hocker completed a pass to Wenger (2:18). However, there was an added bonus. Fairborn’s Defense was assessed a Personal Foul (Face Mask Violation) (2:17). That penalty moved the ball to FHS’s 45-Yard Line.

Led by the rushing of only Wenger, the ball reached Fairborn’s 36-Yard Line. With 11-Seconds remaining in the 1st Quarter, Beavercreek faced a 4th Down and 1. The Beavers ran the ball. The First Down was not obtained. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Beavercreek leads Fairborn 13-7. At the 11:49 mark of the 2nd Quarter, Fairborn had a 3rd Down and 5 on its own 40-Yard Line. Watts completed the First Down Pass to Dawson Blakley. Blakley obtained 12-Yards. The ball was on the Beavers’ 48-Yard Line. From that point, the Skyhawks had trouble moving the ball. With the ball on the Beavers’ 42, it was 4th Down and 4. FHS’s Offense decided not to Punt the ball. That was an unwise decision. Watts went on to throw an Incomplete Pass (9:35). The ball turned over on downs. It was not long before Fairborn regained possession. On 1st Down and 10, Beavercreek made a rush. During the process, the ball was fumbled. Fairborn recovered the loose ball (9:28).

With the ball on Beavercreek’s 40-Yard Line, Fairborn was given new life. On 4th Down and 8, the ball was on the 38-Yard Line. After the snap from center, Watts had the Beavers’ Defense rushing directly at him. As a result, he had to just throw up the ball. Luckily, a receiver was in the right place. The 9-Yard Pass was complete (8:22). On 3rd Down and 10, the ball was still on BHS’s 29-Yard Line. At 7:53, Watts completed a pass to Barron. Barron managed to only obtain 3-Yards. On 4th Down and 7, the Skyhawks did not attempt a Field Goal. Instead, Watts threw a pass. That pass went on to be incomplete (7:01). The ball was turned over on downs. On its own 26-Yard Line, Beavercreek’s Offense took over. Led by Wenger, the Beavers got the ball moving quickly.

During the Offensive Drive, Wenger was the only Offensive Player to touch the ball. No one else moved the ball. Play after play, Wenger pounded his way down the field. With 5:09 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Beavercreek had a 1st Down and 10 on Fairborn’s 36-Yard Line. After the snap, Wenger was handed the ball. Then, he proceeded to take off. As he got near the end zone, Wenger had to make a spin. In order to avoid being tackled, a spin had to be made. Once the spin was completed, Wenger made his way into the end zone. Cash’s Extra Point Kick was Good. Beavercreek leads Fairborn 20-7. After the Kickoff, Fairborn started on its own 20-Yard Line. The Skyhawks’ Offense struggled to move the ball. On 4th Down and 7 from the 23-Yard Line, FHS was forced to Punt (3:10). Immediately, FHS was given a MAJOR BREAK! Flags were thrown. Beavercreek’s Defense was penalized for Roughing The Kicker (3:03). Fairborn maintained possession.

As a direct result of the Personal Foul (against Beavercreek), the ball was placed on Fairborn’s 38-Yard Line. On 1st Down, KJ Redmon picked up 21-Yards (2:56).  Redmon got the ball to BHS’s 41-Yard Line. With 1:56 to go, the ball remained on the 41-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 10, Watts completed a 39-Yard Pass to Barron. Barron was tackled on the Beavers’ 2-Yard Line. On 1st and Goal, Redmon got the Touchdown (1:30). The Extra Point Kick was No Good. The ball sailed wide left. On 2nd Down and 10 from its own 27-Yard Line, Hocker threw a Deep Pass downfield. Maloney was the intended receiver. The pass was incomplete (48-Seconds). During the play, Maloney was wide-open. However, the ball was too far in front of him. The pass was uncatchable. Had Maloney caught the ball, he would have reached the end zone. If not, he would have obtained a long gain.

At the end of the First Half, Beavercreek leads Fairborn 20-13. For most of the First Half, Fairborn’s Quarterback Wesley Watts was under so much Defensive Pressure. He had to scramble all over the field. At times, he had to just throw the ball up. After the Halftime Break, Fairborn High School started with Offensive Possession. The ball was on the team’s own 47-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 10, Watts completed a 10-Yard Pass to Dawson Blakley (11:24). From Beavercreek’s 37-Yard Line, Watts moved the ball to the 30-Yard Line. Unfortunately, a defender knocked the ball down.

After the Punt, the ball was downed on Fairborn’s 13-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 8, Watts was intercepted by Beavercreek’s Bryce Neuse. Neuse proceeded to make his way to the end zone (8:35). Once again, Cash successfully made an Extra Point Kick. Beavercreek’s lead increased to 27-13. A short time later, you will not believe what ends up happening. With 7:52 on the clock, Fairborn had a 2nd Down and 8 on its own 22-Yard Line. After the snap, Watts threw a pass. Once again, Watts was intercepted by Bryce Neuse. Neuse scored another Touchdown! With the completion of Cash’s Extra Point Kick, Beavercreek took a 34-13 lead. Fairborn’s next Offensive Drive was horrendous. On 4th Down and 27 from its own 17-Yard Line, the Skyhawks was forced to Punt. Upon a Block In The Back Penalty (against the Beavers) being assessed, Beavercreek started on its own 25-Yard Line. On 1st Down, Drew Nanda rushed the ball to the 34-Yard Line (9-Yard Run).

At this point, Wenger took over. On 2nd Down and 1, he rushed for 16-Yards (5:38). The ball rested at Midfield (50-Yard Line). Wenger’s next rush got the ball to Fairborn’s 45-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 5, Wenger blasted his way to the Skyhawks’ 10-Yard Line (4:34). On 1st and Goal, Wenger moved the ball to the 7-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and Goal, Hocker kept the ball himself. With assistance from Beavercreek’s Defense committing a Personal Foul and Watts completing a pass which was tipped to a Lineman, the Skyhawks got the ball moving. The Offensive Drive started on the Skyhawks’ own 26-Yard Line. On 2nd Down and 9 from the Beavers’ 45-Yard Line, Watts was Sacked (1:13). On 3rd Down and 19 from Fairborn’s own 42-Yard Line, Redmon picked up 4-Yards. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Beavercreek leads Fairborn 41-13. As the 4th Quarter got underway, Fairborn made a great Punt. The ball was downed on Beavercreek’s own 1-Yard Line.

On 1st Down, Wenger rushed the ball to the 15-Yard Line (11:43). From the 15-Yard Line, the ball would go on to get to only the 18-Yard Line. On 4th Sown and 7, Beavercreek had to punt (10:02). Fairborn received the ball on Beavercreek’s 49-Yard Line. Instead of gaining yards, the drive would go on to just lose yards.             Fairborn went on to make an Onside Kick. The Skyhawks’ Special Teams Unit successfully recovered the ball. On Beavercreek’s 49-Yard Line, the ball was recovered. The Skyhawks’ Offensive Drive went nowhere. Due to a run which lost yards and an Illegal Procedure Violation, the drive was hindered. On 4th Down and 13, the ball was on FHS’s own 48-Yard Line. Watts ended up throwing an Incomplete Pass. After Wenger rushed the ball twice, the ball had moved from the 48-Yard Line to the 39-Yard Line. On 3rd Down and 1, Hocker picked up the First Down. With 2:06 on the clock, Beavercreek faced a 3rd Down and 11 on Fairborn’s 37-Yard Line. After the snap, a Reverse Play was performed. The ball ended up in Maloney’s hands.
